Insights from Serge Infanti – The Muffin Break & Jamaica Blue Big Shot

It’s been great attending the Australian Franchise Support Alliance and listening to some great ideas from Serge Infanti the big Shot of Muffin Break and Jamaica Blue!

At the Australian Franchise Support Alliance Event I have been very lucky to hear from Serge Infanti the Managing Director of the Foodco Group (including key Brands such as Muffin Break and Jamaica Blue).

Serge told his story about being an Italian Immigrant Boy and dealing with Racism (which I can relate too being a Persian Guy), his Corporate Career at IBM and also his growth of building Muffin Break and Jamaica Blue.

I have been at this event all day and have picked up quite a few “Awesome Business Gems” that have really personally related to me.  One key point that really has is this great call that he made being “Always invest in Infrastructure”.

To hear this line from a high powered business leader like him made me feel a lot better about my own Sales & Marketing Work that I do.  I think one reason why I am still around in business today (especially compared to the many Business Coaches and Marketing People I have seen come and go) is because of this point.

I often give this advice to plenty of my clients too who are startups and entrepreneurs is that you need “Great Infrastructure” to help you succeed in business.  Serge was obviously talking on a larger level compared to someone like myself – but his words has a reassuring impact on me.  I have spent heaps on infrasture on my business and at times I think “Ouch that bill hurt!”.  But then the reality is that 2 years ago I was a nobody and I have had 10+ months of continuous growth in my business.

Taking Serge’s thinking and applying this on a Small Business Level, “Infrastructure” this can include:

– Decent Business Cards.

– Decent Tablet / Laptop Computer (Microsoft Surface 3 Pro does both!)

– Great Sales Material.

– A beautiful High Quality Website.

– A Social Media Program that rocks.

– Clothing and the image that supports what you do in maximum style.

The reality is that in business, it does COST MONEY to do that.  However, the more infrastructure you buy, the stronger your business, the more sustainable you become and the more awesome profitable clients you get.

My advice as I have had just reinforced at the Australian Franchise Support Alliance Event? When it comes to your business invest generously.  The more you put into your business, the stronger it becomes and the more you can drive it for awesome success.

I trust you enjoy this fine article and thank you for the read!

Succeeding as an Online Marketer and My Thanks + Love for MindArc Digital Agency

I love watching Sean Pieres from MindArc Digital Agency talk Online Marketing. They built my amazing site and it's been one challenging and wonderful journey of success!

I love watching Sean Pieres from MindArc Digital Agency talk Online Marketing. They built my amazing site and it’s been one challenging and wonderful journey of success!

In total irony, as I sit in a seminar watching the Technical Genius Sean Pieres from MindArc Digital Agency speak on eCommerce and Online Marketing – I realize that I am Blogging about Sean in the site his company built for me.

Sean is a keynote speaker at the Australian Franchise Support Alliance and I am loving his views.

My original business when I started out as a Sales & Marketing was very “Real-World” in the respect of working my butt off to get clients through Networking Events.  This was a great start to my business and I eventually I reached that point where I had a full client book and in order to expand my business, I either needed more staff or employ more Automation.

Hiring staff wasn’t my thing and I felt that Online Marketing, Online Products and that type of focus was very important for me. This has totally changed my life for the better and what was an interesting part of this direction was choosing my Digital Agency to support me.

Matt Craig, Sean Pieres, Brendan Cipollone & Cam Gomes have been that agency and have kept me barely sane through a 12 – 18 month long project of building my Online Strength. What I have learned from this experience and advice I give to my clients (in particular Consultants, Coaches and Mentors say selling information) is that in order to Success with an Online Product YOU REALLY got to be thinking 12 – 18 months ahead as it’s a medium to long term project. Talking say an Online Product, I made a massive mistake of building it and then realizing I had no brand awareness.  This meant I then had an “Online Product” on the shelf and I had to build my reputation first.

As I am the first to believe you should “Hire Your Weakness” – I have loved doing that with MindArc Digital Agency.  They totally rock in the space I am in and I so owe them.

My advice? If you are going to Walk the “Online Marketing” path, please don’t think you will do it in 3 months like I did.  It’s a great 12+ month project, but as you get there – it’s a wonderful profitable feeling.

Thank you MindArc and thank you for the read Awesome Friends!

Taking Time Out, Creative Thought and Listening to Compelling Speakers at AFSA

It's gerat listening to the amazing Ralph Anania at ASFA. I love his great Business Concepts and work. Always great to listen to other brilliant people to get brilliant ideas!

It’s gerat listening to the amazing Ralph Anania at ASFA. I love his great Business Concepts and work. Always great to listen to other brilliant people to get brilliant ideas!

Today I am very lucky to be enjoying myself at the Australian Franchise Support Alliance (“AFSA”) run by the kind Steven Clare.  It’s basically a network for Franchisors and Franchisees and it’s a day of speakers that know their stuff.

I have actually started writing this article very early in the day to capture some of my key thoughts and my initial experiences.  The first thing I have found is that every now and then, it’s great to really “Get Out of Your Head”.

I am listening to the Veteran Business Speaker Ralph Anania talking about his early experiences in Produce and his Business Career.  In real time, he has made some great points that have got me thinking:

– You can have the best product, but it’s all about Customer Service and that Experience.

I like Ralph’s thinking and it’s a very compelling hearing that in it’s how I built my original business was all through Customer Service and Experience.

Talking more to Small Business Sales & Marketing in this case I have had plenty of amazing clients come through my doors. The ones that have taken my Sales & Marketing knowledge and been awesome successful entrepreneurs have always listened to my “Quality / Service” lecture.

That is, yes please have great technology, great strategies – HOWEVER you must have a key deliverance of quality at all times.  As I listen in Real Time he also made another amazing point which I totally love “Negative Thinking” leads to “Negative Solutions” to problems.  That is when you have a “Positive Mindset” you come up with better quality positive solutions that make your business and life easier.  I even took a Diagram on the topic which I totally love:

Positive and Negative Thinking Diagram - This has got me thinking!

Positive and Negative Thinking Diagram – This has got me thinking!

My advice and thinking so far from the ASFA Event? It’s great to think things through, take some time out and let creative new ideas flow in super style which makes things happen.

Anyway I better get back to listening and thank you for staying tuned to my blog awesome friends!

Thank you from Edward Zia – Marketing Mentor who loves learning the best from awesome people like Ralph Anania!

4Networking Chatswood with this extremely good looking Launch Team is coming up for Launch 8AM Tuesday, 7th October 2014. Love you to join Us!

I am very excited to help announce the upcoming Launch of 4Networking Chatswood.  This is our Brand New Group on Sydney’s Fine North Shore and I am looking forward to this one big time.

Over the years of helping Grant & Karen Dempsey in 4Networking, I have been lucky to be part of many successful group launches.  In this case, Danny Vandine & Samaneh Bakhshi (from Upside Down Productions) and Paul Battaglia (from Digital Junction) have put in a crazy amount of work to get plenty of people ready for this launch.

If you are reading my blog post and you haven’t been part of 4Networking Previously, may I ask you to read on and consider visiting this fine group launch.  In short, “4Networking Australia” is from the United Kingdom which runs over 5000+ Networking Events per year.  These events generally take the form of 2 Hour Breakfasts than run from 8AM to 10AM.  It is 50% Social and 50% Business and is an Entrepreneur Support Group designed for SME’s.

After losing the lot during the Global Financial Crisis, 4Networking helped me generate my come back in life when I launched my Marketing Mentoring Business. From scratch it helped me build a 6-Figure Consulting Business and for many beyond me – it has helped create many success stories for start-ups.  For the established, it has been a great new Marketing Platform.  Beyond getting new clients for me, it has been outstanding for support, getting great suppliers and providing a safe / fun environment to test out new concepts.

If this is of interest to you, I’d love to invite you to:

4Networking Chatswood Launch:

– 8AM to 10AM.

– Tuesday, 7th October 2014 (Continuing each following fortnight).

– Cafe New York Grill, Upstairs 426 Victoria Avenue (Right near the Train Station – be careful, there is another cafe of similar name a few blocks away).

– Bring $25 and a Stack of Business Cards + a Smile!

4Networking is great, no referrals or invites required and it’s a fine relaxed group.  If you are interested, feel free to let me know so I can book you in or feel free to contact either of the heroes starting it up:

Danny Vandine – danny.v@upsidedown.com.au / 0402 846 563

Paul Battaglia – paulb@digitaljunction.com.au / 0417 756 466

Love your work and hopefully see you soon! Thanks from Edward Zia – Marketing Mentor and 4Networking Regional Leader.

Enjoying great company and good times with the Savvy Entrepreneur Natalie Moutia – Founder of Success Women’s Network. It was great sharing ideas peer to peer – keeps me sane and I love her great tips!

Over the past few months, yet again I am a very lucky man.  I have had the unique honour of being one of the first Male Guest Speakers to the amazing ladies of Success Women’s Network. They are an Entrepreneurs Group which helps support women in business through morale, training, ideas, referral and business networking opportunities.  What I found amazing about them was how similar the experience was to 4Networking.

As I arrived for my first presentation on Small Business Sales & Marketing at Success Women’s Network I was very fortunate to connect with their Leader Natalie Moutia.  We have become friends since our first meeting and have both reflected on how quickly we have “Clicked” and share very similar values when it comes to business, life and in particular business networking.

We also have joked about how similar we are on many levels.  Both have survived quite extreme situations in life, both have worked in marketing, both have been retrenched, both have been ripped off by mean people, both are ethnic, both have had very hard lives, both are Christians and both have focused very hard on helping other people.

Probably no surprise we got along so quickly and I have been lucky to get a guest blog from her on how Business Networking Works. I think her knowledge is brilliant so I haven’t even changed one word – just formatted it to suit my fine blog.

I trust you enjoy the fine read!

Are you a Connector? Guest Blog by Natalie Moutia, Founder of Success Women’s Network:

Effective networking skills are a powerful tool for all entrepreneurs.

Connecting and networking is a lifelong skill that can be learnt.  Connecting the room with integrity is an art and can be easy to master.  Here are my top 8 tips on how to make friends and create new business contacts:

1. Have a purpose: Remind yourself why you are at an event and have a purpose. Set objectives, for example speak to 3 new business owners and or learn 2 new pieces of information. Go prepared and have your key messages clear and concise. Remember don’t sell and connect instead.

2. Sit next to someone you don’t know: Have you attended an event with people you already know and sat with them the whole event? Sit next to someone you don’t know and increase your chance of meeting new people. Simple right? Well NO our human behaviour compels us to sit in our comfort zone and connect with people we know. Make a conscience effort to sit next to someone new every time and boom you have just increased your network.

3. Act like the host: If you know the event organiser ask for an introduction to key people you would like to meet. There is nothing like a warm introduction. Approach someone standing alone. Chances are they are waiting to meeting you and would be happy for others to join them. Make sure once you have connected, excuse yourself politely and work that room like the host of an event would.

4. Body language: Having a warm smile, leaving your arms unfolded and maintaining eye contact will make anyone feel welcome. When you make the commitment to connect all the way you’ll not only make a friend but meaningful business contacts. Be your real self. Be subtle. Listen and pay attention to the details. Remember it’s not about you, it’s about them.

5. Break the ice: Ever had an awkward silent moment at a networking event? Avoid that by asking some friendly general questions, it can be as simple as commenting on the venue, the program, speaker or the food; asking people where they have travelled from or whether they have been to the event or place before; or expressing an interest in why they are attending. Making that personal connection is key.

6. Give before you gain: Offer to give someone something for nothing and don’t expect anything in return. Most people appreciate a generous offer of help and want to reciprocate. In time, your good karma will reward you.

7. Go easy on the business cards: Make each business card count, rather than handing them out like you are desperate. It’s not about quantity it’s about quality contacts. Be ready to hand out a business card if someone requests it or you think that you have a made a good solid connection. Always ask for one in exchange. Don’t make the mistake of keeping your cards in a pile on your desk. Make a time to connect with your new contacts on LinkedIN and Facebook. Make a time to get to know them and their business over a long lunch.

After the Event:

The real connecting begins after the event, it’s all about setting the foundations for establishing a meaningful and mutually beneficial relationship. This takes time to nurture and cultivate. Remember it takes time to build trust and friendship, then the business will come. Happy connecting!

Edward Zia’s Post Notes:

In my own Business Networking experience I have been preaching a similar message for years and it’s great hearing similar concepts from such an esteemed peer of mine.  Talking more to my Sales & Marketing Mentoring – I have known many people over the years who either get Business Networking or you don’t.

The ones that do really “Get It” and make lots of money from it are almost always the biggest contributors to the group.  Be it they are volunteering to help out, giving their help generously, giving referrals and being basically a positive pillar of a given group.  These people (including myself) have a great experience of business networking.

My advice? Really consider what Natalie is saying, consider visiting a Success Women’s Network event and even drop her a line to discuss it more.

Thank you for the read Awesome Friends!

Self-Worth: An Important Key to a Healthy and Successful Business Life!

Self-Worth is very important concept in Sales, Marketing and Life! Being part of 4Networking and Grant and Karen Dempsey have been a great inspiration for me in this area. Self-Worth and Personal Success go hand in hand!

Self-Worth is very important concept in Sales, Marketing and Life! Being part of 4Networking and Grant and Karen Dempsey have been a great inspiration for me in this area. Self-Worth and Personal Success go hand in hand!

Without me pretending to be Joel Curtis the Psychologist (if anything I need his services) in my life lately “Self-Worth” has been a massive concept of importance.  My own “Non-Psychologist” interpretation of Self-Worth is exactly as it sounds, i.e. how much we value ourselves.

Probably until this year, I like many other awesome people out there have had a very low sense of self my whole life.  Be it business or life, I would never truly back myself, I would also doubt my own ability and to my own demise I would successfully be dominated by unethical meanies who would just take and take from me.

Without breaking out the violins (as that is not the point of this article) many experiences in my life have led to me a lower sense of self.  Multiple times of homelessness, bad partners, mean bosses, bullying at high school – whatever, all impacted on me in this respect.

It’s not just happiness I am speaking about here – as I found out the hard-way over the years that poor self worth put me in some very bad positions that always came out the same way.  Talking from a life perspective, it would be not looking after myself, not dressing very well, having partners that would control / dominate me and not take care of me etc.  Talking a career / business perspective, this would often lead to letting mean bosses walk all over me, not standing up to mean co-workers, not leaving jobs and finding better places, taking on clients that don’t pay & make excuses, not selling myself to my full potential and incorrectly “Deep-Down” believing I could never be successful.

When 2014 started, I made it a key point to instantly upgrade my Self-Worth and treat myself fairly.  Sure, if I stuffed something up or did something bad fine – but otherwise I really chose to back myself the the absolute fullest.

Bringing it more back to Sales & Marketing in a Small Business Context this revolutionized my life from a range of viewpoints.  Firstly, I had a few people who were really using me and taking advantage of me.  GONE! I had some clients that stopped paying me and were making excuses of why they shouldn’t.  GONE! I wasn’t living and always putting myself down with my own negative dialogue.  GONE!

Talking to the positive now, I used to think for a long-time it was just me.  However, I found out very quickly that almost everyone I know has the same type of issue.  It was in varying degrees and areas (e.g. someone say backs themself as Mum but they don’t in Selling) – but we all suffered from the same issue.  As I put more light onto this issue, people would say “Yes Edward! This is me too”.

Firstly in having a new family, it’s made me really think about this on a deep level and make sure my own children don’t grow up thinking that. Secondly, healthy self-worth makes Sales & Marketing way more effective.  Thirdly, life is much happier when you are being nice to yourself!

My advice and lessons from this? Really make self-worth a concept for you to be aware of.  Think about how you speak to yourself, your own focus and realize the importance of it.  Arrogance is never the answer (that is just fluff and hot-air).  You want to do the right thing, reward yourself for that and develop TRUE SELF VALUE.

I trust that helps and you enjoy me pretending to be a pop-psychologist.  However, talking something I am in Expert being Small Business Sales & Marketing – you MUST HAVE A GREAT SENSE of Self-Worth.  Any sign of hesitation can lose sales be it online or face to face.

So here is to happy times of high self-worth!

Thank you for the read from Edward Zia – Marketing Mentor who is forever working on his self-worth!

Lazy Piggies Vs the Motivated Tiger: Effective Sales & Marketing loves HARD WORK!

As hard as it sounds, lazy piggies get turned into bacon in business. I have found that you do need great Sales & Marketing Stratgies BACKED UP BY AWESOME HARD WORK!

As hard as it sounds, lazy piggies get turned into bacon in business. I have found that you do need great Sales & Marketing Stratgies BACKED UP BY AWESOME HARD WORK!

I have been lucky to work with thousands over the last few years.  They are amazing people and in the very rare instances I have had seen a few people that in technical speak are called “Lazy Piggies”.

In building my own personal success within my own Mentoring Business and also 4Networking, * Yes * I have had some Top Business Strategies that have been great and all that * But * it’s come down to me doing ridiculous, excessive and very enjoyable amounts of work.

In my time I had one person who wanted my help.  They asked me for my advice (which I have given to hundreds of others) to start their Consulting Business.  My response was “You need to Business Networking at least 3 x Times Per Week, Build your Facebook + LinkedIn, Meet People One-on-One, Get Speaking Gigs etc”.  I told them up front when they hired me it’s going to be really hard, but it’s quite normal for everyone who is starting out being exactly what I went through.

In a very short space of time they came back to me saying that it was “Too Hard” and they dumped me and went and hired someone else instead of me that said “They had the Secret Strategies to Wealth, can make them heaps of Money and Edward sucks and all that”.

Some years later I bumped into them in the street – it was during the day and they were employees working in the City.  When they saw me, I was all positive (and didn’t put two-and-two till later) but they were sheepish and not quite happy to see me.

As I asked questions, the answers were quite embarrassing and I could feel that they weren’t too proud of what happened.  The truth was that they gave up on their dreams and were back in the Corporate Workforce.

A very small part of me (which was quite hurt at the time when they dumped me and replaced me quite rudely with someone else) was “I told you so” – but the greater / nicer part of me was “Wow – those poor people, what wasted potential?”

This really was a potent experience that stuck in my mind for a range of reasons.  Firstly, it showed that regardless of the strategy that if you don’t do the work it won’t happen. Secondly, it reminded me not to become a “Lazy Piggy” myself as I may end up suffering the same fate.  Thirdly, you got to watch those big bogus claims out there where people just make up stuff and say “Oh Yes, it’s so easy.  Yes you can make $1,000,000+ with my super secret strategies which I have to sell you because I am just being generous”.  Yeah Right! Total BS in that regard.

My view of these people is that they aren’t Lazy at all – but they unfortunately listened to the wrong lesson, followed some bad advice by another which led to them not succeeding.

Talking to the positive, go hard, go fast, keep developing and be a “Motivated Tiger”.  A lot of people have this strange form of thinking – they will work night and day for their employers, but for whatever reason when people are in their own businesses I think they are looking for the non-existent easy way out.

My advice? HARD WORK is awesome on your own terms and see it as a positive. You also need to remember that the world is very competitive and full of hard working people.  People love hiring people that work hard and know their stuff.  Make sure you don’t be the Piggie that gets turned into Bacon and eaten my Mr. Tiger for Breakfast.

Wow – so positive and inspirational this article? I know it sounds a bit negative, but it’s all very true.  I would have failed in my business long ago if I didn’t apply this intensive thinking.

So work hard, love it and say NO TO BEING BACON x x

“Screw Them” – 10 x Tips on Overcoming Fear and TOTALLY BEING YOURSELF!

The more I be myself in business the WAY MORE EFFECTIVE my Sales & Marketing Is!

The more I be myself in business the WAY MORE EFFECTIVE my Sales & Marketing Is!

When it comes to Sales & Marketing, all too often I see many people that just are “Afraid” of being themselves when it comes to business.  I remember once being just like that in business myself.  When I started out, I had a really “Boring” and conservative image (that didn’t work at all), I wore my old boring Corporate Clothes and I was very reluctant to take a stand and “Truly be myself”.

Over time as my business progressed – the more I would be myself, the more money I would make and the better results I would bring in the door.  This over time really made me “Become Myself” in a range of very important ways.  I would say what I am thinking, stand up directly to people trying to push me around, being direct & honest with people and be proud of being a Christian and wanting to help people.

The true reality is that when you stand up to be yourself, you will get quite great applause but you also get some people that will really try and take you down. This doesn’t happen to me too much anymore, but I remember people tried to shut down this blog, they would accuse me of being too direct or just wanted to make me “Boring like them”.

When it comes to being yourself and the fear of judgement by bad people, “Screw Them” type of logic truly applies!

Talking more to Sales & Marketing – if your Personality or Company Brand is not different, is boring and doesn’t stand out – YOU WILL NOT MAKE MONEY.  Pure and simple – the Marketplace is super cluttered and you got to stand out.

What I find for many people is the challenge is having the confidence to do it. After years of heavy research, key studies and working with thousands – I hope you enjoy these 10 x Tips:

1) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

2) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

3) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

4) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

5) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

6) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

7) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

8) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

9) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

10) Screw them and just do whatever you want and be yourself.

I trust these potent tips help and each of then contain a great deal of powerful insight and information.

Thank you for the kind read and love your work! Edward Zia – Marketing Mentor who loves being himself!

Developing AWESOME MOTIVATION that Lasts & The BIG WHY!

Chocolate gives me short terms bursts of motivation which is great. BUT - true long term motivation comes from within and having multiple clear WHY'S! This gives true motivation from within!

Chocolate gives me short terms bursts of motivation which is great. BUT – true long term motivation comes from within and having multiple clear WHYS! This gives true motivation from within!

A lot of people give some great feedback and often say “Edward – I love your work and you are so motivated, how on Earth do you do it?”. That is very true – I am a very motivated character and when I put my mind to something I really go hard with it.  Not always, but quite often I get the results I am looking for with more wins than losses! (Although I have had some massive losses and had my head “Handed to me” many times).

The first thing I explain to people is that it’s not like I was “Born” this way or it’s some unique part of my personality.  It’s purely the fact I am doing what I want in life and I am quite inspired by my chance to help thousands of awesome people.

Plenty of times in life I have been the opposite of “Motivated” – in fact at times, I have even been a barrier to things I just don’t believe in.  I remember once amazing experience of motivation that didn’t last.  In one of my early jobs it was awesome at the start.  I got great training, I had a great manager, I worked hard, got rewarded well and the company loved me and I loved them.  It was one of my early Marketing Jobs and a taste of the workforce biting me.

They made me all massive promises about me getting extra staff and pay when I achieve the very tough targets they set me.  So I exceeded the targets and guess what happened? They got what they wanted out of me, cut my staff, cut my budgets and just got me into “Maintenance Mode” and took my hard work and knowledge.  They lied to me.  From day one they knew what they were doing – told me what I wanted to hear to get more out of me, then just shut me down.

I was there for maybe another 12 months and guess what! I had no motivation whatsoever.  I went from star employee to doing what I had to do and I really put myself into my studies and life outside of the company.   I took nothing at work too seriously, I stopped spending my social time with them and I moved on in life.  I was actually quite happy at the time, but from a work point of view – I was very demotivated.  They then tried to bully me back into some kind of fear based motivation and each time it did the opposite; I even got the point where I would just chill out.  I made them at least $2,000,000+ – so they owed me for a change! In the end they threatened me all the time and I just laughed at them.

Why? Because they sucked, they took advantage of me and I just didn’t care whether the company was going to last or not because they really played me for the fool.

Talking to the positive, I love my business and 4Networking (which I help run).  Why? They are nice to me, I get to help people, the pay is great, it’s my own business, it’s life on my own terms, I love the work, I get to pick who I work with, I do things my way, I have a great variety of work, I am a success entrepreneur, I love what I do and it rocks!

As you may have picked up, I have A LOT OF REASONS of WHY I like what I am doing today.  There are so many reasons stacked on top of each other and each gives me that bit of motivation and inspiration.

My advice for being more motivated? Don’t push yourself – think of the many WHYS you are doing it for and really connect with them.  Also, don’t make up something too.  You may be doing something which just sucks and the issue is not being motivated, it may be more “You are climbing the right ladder against the wrong wall”.

Great motivation comes from within! That I have found has given me a great sense of satisfaction in life.

I trust this more “Mindset” article helps and keep up the great work out there awesome friends!

Running out of Petrol & Turning Lemons into Lemonade!

Yes I did run out of Petrol and it was very funny doing that. I have learned my lesson and it gave me a chance to reflect and make the most of my silly moment!

Yes I did run out of Petrol and it was very funny doing that. I have learned my lesson and it gave me a chance to reflect and make the most of my silly moment!

Well this is an embarrassing post! I am due to run the Squeeze Business Networking Event tonight and as I finished with an awesome client – my car won’t start! I think I have done something very silly like “Run out of Petrol” as I know I didn’t leave my lights on. Talking facts, as I write this article I am resting back in my fine car, reflecting on life.

Fortunately, the Awesome Martha Arifin is getting to the event early and she is going to set everything up while I wait for the NRMA to rescue me from my stupidity!

One thing I have learned in business and life is that no how hard you work, plan and do the right thing – things are going to go against you at times.  I really like the not completely lame cliche “When life gives you lemons make lemonade!”

In this instance I totally feel inspired by that type of thinking.  When I tried starting my car and heard the “Wo-Wo-Wo-Wo-Wo…” without any ignition.  I knew “Uh-Oh immediately – this is a night to wait for the NRMA and touch wood I will be at the event on time”.

Before I got annoyed, I immediately started thinking of the “Lemons to Lemonade” saying and thought of how I can take advantage of things.  The truth is it’s the perfect time to do a blog, time to rest and reflect – and chill out in the likely 90 minute wait I have ahead of me.

Business can be like this too! My life and business is action packed and rocking these days where I often work from sun-up to sun-down.  When I started my business and I had lots of time on my hands and I used to “Feel Bad” about it.  If I knew I would ever be this successful and one day be flat out – I would have so chilled out more and enjoyed the down-time while I had it.  Likewise, all that time I spent stressing about things that are “Unlikely” to happen that never did – perfect time for me to flick my thinking over and make Lemonade.

My advice? Sometimes life is going to suck a little bit and things won’t go your way. My car being broken down is no big deal at all compared to many things that can happen – but I think it demonstrates the point.   If things aren’t going your way, try and work out how to best use it to your advantage.  Sure, you may be annoyed, frustrated, pissed off – but at times you are just going to “Run Out of Petrol” so you got make the most of it!

10 x Tips for Getting Over your Fear of Sales Rejection Once and For All!

Rejection does suck at the start when it comes to selling and it was hard for me! But through time and continual practice I conquered my fear and don't care! A great place to be in!

Rejection does suck at the start when it comes to selling and it was hard for me! But through time and continual practice I conquered my fear and don’t care! A great place to be in!

Not too long ago I remember having a MASSIVE fear of rejection in not only selling, but general when it comes to life.  This type of fear was a problem for myself and many awesome people out there really suffer from this type of issue.

When it comes to Sales & Marketing for your own Small Business, it’s a big problem.  Especially when one starts out in business, the first problem is usually lack of clients.  Effective Selling obviously cures this problem and helps you get your business off the ground and make you successful.  But, if you are fearful of doing the behaviour that makes you successful (selling) then you have a very conflicted belief system.

It’s quite counter intuitive actually and almost funny in a way that we as humans think.  When it comes to business, we can be afraid of doing what will make us successful! This can be anything from childhood experiences to ones own personal morale giving us this irrational and very illogical fear.

To help you conquer this problem, here are my own personal Top 10 x Tips on “Getting Over Sales Rejection Once and for All”:

1) Do it all the time and get used to it.

2) Do it all the time and get used to it.

3) Do it all the time and get used to it.

4) Do it all the time and get used to it.

5) Do it all the time and get used to it.

6) Do it all the time and get used to it.

7) Do it all the time and get used to it.

8) Do it all the time and get used to it.

9) Do it all the time and get used to it.

10) Do it all the time and get used to it.

These 10 x Tips worked brilliantly for me in the long run.  For the first say 6 – 12 months of being in my own business it was really hard, but the more and more one keeps doing it – the easier it becomes until it is second nature and if someone says “No” you really don’t care.

Another way I like to look at it is from a numbers point of view.  If I say offer my Personal Sales & Marketing Mentoring Services to 5 x Interested People, I know that 1 – 2 x will probably sign up.  This is great! Instead of worrying about the sales, I worry about getting the appointments and letting the numbers take care of themselves.

I trust you enjoyed this article and drop me a line if I can be of service! Of course if you say “No” to my services I won’t be too heart broken (sniff x x). Edward Zia – Marketing Mentor who loves Personal Selling.
