Yes I did run out of Petrol and it was very funny doing that. I have learned my lesson and it gave me a chance to reflect and make the most of my silly moment!

Well this is an embarrassing post! I am due to run the Squeeze Business Networking Event tonight and as I finished with an awesome client – my car won’t start! I think I have done something very silly like “Run out of Petrol” as I know I didn’t leave my lights on. Talking facts, as I write this article I am resting back in my fine car, reflecting on life.

Fortunately, the Awesome Martha Arifin is getting to the event early and she is going to set everything up while I wait for the NRMA to rescue me from my stupidity!

One thing I have learned in business and life is that no how hard you work, plan and do the right thing – things are going to go against you at times.  I really like the not completely lame cliche “When life gives you lemons make lemonade!”

In this instance I totally feel inspired by that type of thinking.  When I tried starting my car and heard the “Wo-Wo-Wo-Wo-Wo…” without any ignition.  I knew “Uh-Oh immediately – this is a night to wait for the NRMA and touch wood I will be at the event on time”.

Before I got annoyed, I immediately started thinking of the “Lemons to Lemonade” saying and thought of how I can take advantage of things.  The truth is it’s the perfect time to do a blog, time to rest and reflect – and chill out in the likely 90 minute wait I have ahead of me.

Business can be like this too! My life and business is action packed and rocking these days where I often work from sun-up to sun-down.  When I started my business and I had lots of time on my hands and I used to “Feel Bad” about it.  If I knew I would ever be this successful and one day be flat out – I would have so chilled out more and enjoyed the down-time while I had it.  Likewise, all that time I spent stressing about things that are “Unlikely” to happen that never did – perfect time for me to flick my thinking over and make Lemonade.

My advice? Sometimes life is going to suck a little bit and things won’t go your way. My car being broken down is no big deal at all compared to many things that can happen – but I think it demonstrates the point.   If things aren’t going your way, try and work out how to best use it to your advantage.  Sure, you may be annoyed, frustrated, pissed off – but at times you are just going to “Run Out of Petrol” so you got make the most of it!
