The ATB Partners ‘Inviting Success and Reaching your Goals’ Free Seminar is out. Full of great speakers and content – join us on the night Awesome People!

When I first started my business some years ago I remember in the first week I met an amazing “Greek Accountant” by the name of Jim Vass.  He was direct, forthright and he commonly said things to me about business I disagreed with.

This was probably an expression of my total lack of knowledge when I started out and I found that almost every time I disagreed with Jim Vass I found out that he was right and I was wrong.  He would give me great advice, direction and to this day he made some brilliant points that inspired me for massive success today.

As I got to know him and his team from ATB Partners (a Business Advisory Accounting Firm based in Parramatta, Western Sydney) I have been more and more impressed by what they do. His partners Michael Mekhitarian and Paul Rattray are brilliant and lately they have put on some great events.

The next one I would love to help announce is the free Seminar:

“Inviting Success & Reaching your Goals”

This is an opportunity to experience great ideas on business excellence, protecting wealth, and being extraordinary. Also a great chance to network and connect over drinks and canapés in a friendly evening event.

Hosted by Jim Vass, Michael Mekhitarian & Paul Rattray from ATB Partners with two great keynote speakers!

Jesper Lowgren:
“If you knew how to create real and sustainable change to take your business to a new level of success, would you do it?” -he is an author, change agent, public speaker, and a business transformation genius with profitable insights and ideas to make businesses better, easier and to help us get more done!

Julie Dolan:
Talking on “Protecting Wealth for the future” – she is the CEO and Founder of SMSF Consulting providing specialist advice to Accountants and other Industry Leaders. With 20+ years of experience we are looking forward to her Wealth Driven Insights!

Trademarks & Protecting Yourself: Guest Blog from Suzanne Harrington of Pinnacle TMS!

Intelligent, Direct, Honest and Lives in the 'Real World' - Suzanne Harrington is one top Trademark Specialist and is out Guest Blogger right here on 'The Edward Files!'

Intelligent, Direct, Honest and Lives in the ‘Real World’ – Suzanne Harrington is one top Trademark Specialist and is out Guest Blogger right here on ‘The Edward Files!’

Having been a Senior Marketing Director in an earlier life and now being a grateful and flat out Sales & Marketing Mentor working the Streets of Sydney – the critical area of “Trademarks, Intellectual Property, Copyright, Rights Ownership” and the like has been part of many discussions I have had from the Boardroom to the Cafe.

As a Corporate, it was just part of the job.  We would create something visually lets say (e.g. a new logo) and then it would go through “Legal” for the necessary protection.  As Marketers, we quite often thought this was just “Hoops” they made us jump through and I honestly never gave it the respect I probably should have.

CHANGE ALL THAT TO BUSINESS! Totally different.

When I started my own business I had met so many people that didn’t go through some form of “Trademarking” or at least some type of protection to get very nasty letters from solicitors.   This could result in massive costs in changing websites, logos and at times whole design concepts because they received a “letter” in the mail.

I even got one once. I had a business networking group by the name of “Schmooze” and got contacted by another company of that name threatening me with legal action.  I quickly changed it go “Squeeze” and good news – people liked it more!

In having felt a light version of the stress and pain myself, over time I have been lucky to work with the Intelligent and Hardworking Suzanne Harrington from Pinnacle TMS.  She has been very kind to guest blog for us right on “The Edward Files” and trust you shall love it.

“Have you been guilty of thinking this as a business owner?” – Guest Blog by Suzanne Harrington:

As a business owner, I network with other business owners every week. I’m sure you do too!

It can be very rewarding both in terms of friendships, contacts, new work and referrals. I know I have made some wonderful friends over the 4 years I have been building my business that I would never have made had I stayed as an employee at a large Sydney law firm.

I have also met some business owners who are very busy building their business and reputation, but when I say I am a Trade Mark Specialist they are quick to say that they don’t need my services. Usually this is because they have too many other things to think of to build their business and often say they will get back to me. Some of them do – like (lets call him) “Dave”.

I met Dave at a networking function and he was full of enthusiasm for his new business. Following our meeting I did some quick research on the name he had chosen and found a competitor in another State using the same name for the same services. I suggested to Dave he might want to reconsider and pick another name for his business.

Dave discussed it with his partner, but they decided they would take the risk and go ahead – after all they had just spent over $5,000 on websites, marketing, etc and the other business was in another State.

Is this something that you would have thought was a reasonable risk for your business?

So …….

18 months later I got a call from Dave – he had received a ‘cease and desist’ letter from the other business owner’s lawyer. What could he do?!

What does that mean? Basically, either Dave had to change his name or the other business owner could sue him for trade mark infringement. He could not only sue the business, he could sue Dave personally. This can be devastating for a small business owner!

When you have a trade mark registration you have the right to:

– exclusive use of the name or a name that is similar in the same or related industry for the products or services covered by the registration.

– sue a competitor if they continue to use your registered trade mark or anything similar where confusion in the marketplace is taking place or could take place.

Of course, Dave had to change his name or be involved in a trade mark dispute which could add up to over $15,000.

Now this meant that Dave had to select another name and spend money on the rebrand of that new name – the result is time out from the building of his business and a focus away from the momentum he had gained by all the networking he had been doing.

Protect Yourself and Your Business

Trade marks are an important strategic tool in setting your business up for local, and international success. Having a trade mark registration for your business name or product name can be critical to getting the peace of mind to build your business and promote your products and services knowing you do actually own your brand. You can also take steps to stop a competitor copying your brand and trading on your reputation and so avoid business identity theft.

Some planning on your part early on to do that will most certainly reap rewards in the future for your business.

If you have any questions on trademarking your business name or product name in Australia or overseas, you can contact me or head over to Amazon where my #1 Best Selling book Trademarking Your Business is current at a reduced price of $3.99.

Edward’s Post Blog Commentary:

A true, common story that I heard many variants of far before I met the awesome Suzanne Harrington.  In being legally threatened as well in relation to the name of “Schmooze” (it was very stressful and upsetting as I just started out in business), I know the feeling.

Suzanne is a character I quite like – she rarely tells you want you “Want to hear”, but she tells you “What you must hear” to help you build a safe and protected business.

My advice? If you are a little spooked / nervous about what you have it maybe time to email or call Suzanne.  Better safe than sorry and love her work!

From Homelessness to the Pullman: My Very Strange Journey of Success (Very Strange!)

Jude and Edward (me) are very lucky to be staying at the beautiful Pullman Hotel on Hyde Park tonight. It's got us both thinking about us being homless and destitute once - and how 2015 has got some great things coming!

Jude and Edward (me) are very lucky to be staying at the beautiful Pullman Hotel on Hyde Park tonight. It’s got us both thinking about us being homless and destitute once – and how 2015 has got some great things coming!

I am a very lucky man.  Tonight I am spending some amazing time with my lovely fiance Jude Dowsett at the beautiful Pullman Hotel on Hyde Park.  It’s one beautiful venue, with great staff and management (a kind Assistant Manager by the name of John Dooley who signed us in – he rocks!).

To both of us “2015” is a critical year which we are planning for now.  It was only a “Clue” from our creator that “2015” was our room at our Hotel Tonight!

Definitely “Twilight Zone” stuff is going down for us.

What has been amazing to me is the rocky life I have led over the past few years.  I have been homeless as a child and as an adult unfortunately quite a few times in my life and what I have learned lately is how fast things can change when you are very much focused on taking ownership of your mistakes and really focusing on what you need to do.

2013 was a year of massive challenge for me on a range of levels and 2014 has been challenging in more positive ways.  For me, it has been more in terms of keeping up with work, building automation and driving forward whilst working on my business mindset.

Talking to lovely Jude as well, if you read her story – she was at Centrelink about 3 years ago with a 2 year old (who is now our 5 year old Step-Son) dealing with poverty and trying to survive from weeks to week.  It’s probably no surprise we are common souls in that regard (knowing struggle and pain) and what we achieve today has been on the back on sleepless nights, lots of stress and some very long painful months.

My realization as of late is that when you really take responsibility for your own life, create a profitable business of your own and then take EXTREME ACTION every day it doesn’t take long to turn things around.

My advice? Be it sickness, divorce, someone ripping you off or whatever and you have lost the lot – it’s OKAY! Learn the lessons that God is trying to teach you and really take it on board. Come up with a plan, business and approach to help you turn it around and choose to believe in yourself 100% and go for it.  Sure, what I am saying is easy from where I am sitting – however it’s what I did when I was in the hole.

What blows me away today is how quickly my life has turned around and also the lovely Judes.  With a bit of work and putting your mind to it, anything is possible….

The Profitable Importance of Exploring New Ideas: Reflections from working with Ralph Anania!

Ralph Anania rocks and it was a massive pleasure learing from his authentic and powerhouse knowledge. Italians and Persians mix well I think!

Ralph Anania rocks and it was a massive pleasure learing from his authentic and powerhouse knowledge. Italians and Persians mix well I think!

Being a very blessed Persian man, my 2014 has been marked with many hard times, achievements and opportunities to work with brilliant people.  From the people that created 4Networking United Kingdom, to ATB Partners, to working with Telstra, spending time with Karen & Grant Dempsey of 4Networking Australia – being close to self-made successful people has been inspiring for me on many levels.

Today was a continuation of that trend with a fine Monday 8AM Breakfast with Business & Leadership Mentor Ralph Anania.  If you haven’t already, may I suggest you Google him.  He is a fine operator who has built $130M+ businesses before his “Mentoring” Career and he has just come off the back of an Australian / New Zealand Tour with John Assaraf.

I was very lucky to recently meet him at an event where he spoke and with my awesome Microsoft Surface 3 Pro (the tablet that can replace your laptop and is way better than primitive Apple Technology) we kind of clicked when we talked Facebook, LinkedIn and one of my favourite areas “Blogging”.

What I found very compelling about meeting with Ralph, is that with some very prominent comments he has given me some great advice in my business that is making me more profitable already.  Firstly, he made a great point about my prices being too cheap (yay! good to hear that from him).  Secondly, he reminded me on the importance of a positive approach to problems.  Thirdly, he gave me a unique perspective on my own Online Strengths which although are relatively new, they are without question quite powerful.

Basically, meeting with him has probably given me a 6 week increase to my own strength and development in say 2 hours.  Having a credible and powerful business person of his nature giving me that feedback has been not only inspiring, but very informative in keeping me on the “Profitable Straight and Narrow”.

My advice and learnings from today? You can’t do it on your own! Yes, I mean that.  Sure you have to be independent and critical in this game – but there is NO WAY you can play a top game without a team around you to complement your own natural strengths and weaknesses.

I had some painful learnings from last year of people who I helped out that ended up lying to me, taking advantage of me and they went down the “Lone Wolf Path”.  Over half of them had failed in their businesses in that time.

On the positive, the “Team Players” have hired staff, are doing really well financially and are happy in what they are doing!

Overall, today was a positive, liberating and compelling experience – in short Ralph Anania rocks!

Love your work and thank you for the read from Edward Zia!

Simplifying Your Life and Focusing on the Sales & Marketing That Matters!

In taking my Awesome Step-Son Tris to the park has got me thinking about the simplier things in life. Basically, how do I reduce the clutter, make things more simple so I can get things done!

In taking my Awesome Step-Son Tris to the park – it has got me thinking about the simpler things in life. Basically, how do I reduce the clutter, make things more simple so I can get more things done!

As time passes I have found over the years that life becomes more complicated by it’s pure nature.  Be it your business gets bigger, you get promoted at work (say if you are an employee), you get married, have children, your parents get old – you get the drift!

This of course applies in almost every area of life and bringing it back to my own sandbox of Sales & Marketing (in a Small Business Sense) it can be very true as well.  For me I am engaged, have a 5 year old step-son (pictured), help run the 4Networking Australia Business Community, got an amazing base of clients and am busy building myself in on Online Sense (hence this blog you are reading now as part of my 24 / 7 Automated Marketing Campaign).

Basically, my life is way more complicated than what it was say 4 years ago! This is a good thing of course as it’s being “Complicated” with a great family and success and what I have found overtime is that in different ways you need to “Simplify” what you are doing as much as you can.

In my case, as there is “so many things I can be doing”, I have had to make some key decisions to make my life as simple as possible.  This allows me to focus on the highest value activities possible so I can best get what I want and get it all done! I have found this for the awesome clients I have been working with too.  Be it you are 55 or 25, it’s the same thing! You want to simplify things as much as you can and some examples I have done have included:

Little Stuff:

– Getting rid of memberships to clubs and coffee discount cards (keep my wallet clean!).

– Put the tabs I need on auto-load on my Chrome Browser.

– Don’t buy extra stuff that gives me something that takes up space.

– Staying neat as I can so I don’t get “Messed Up at Home”.

Big Stuff:

– Moving on from people taking advantage of me (be it sucking my energy, using me for free / not paying – basically bad people avoiding them).

– Going to less networking groups, but developing deeper relationships with people.

– Compressing appointments into singular days as much as possible to cut on travel time and to allow free slots.

– Using my Virtual Assistant and Accountant as much as I can (thank you Lauren Watts).

Basically, I have been doing my best on all areas to keep it as “Simple” as possible so I can focus on what I need too.  In fact, some words of inspiration has come from a great “De-Clutter” Coach I know by the name of Christine Deutsch.  She is great and has inspired me to get things as “Simple as Possible” so you can do what you need to do.

My advice and bringing this back to Sales & Marketing? Make sure your life is as simple as possible, make sure you aren’t screwing around in your business and you are focused on “High-Value” activities as much as you can.  If something isn’t right, change it, tweak it and make it the way you want.  One of the perks of being a business owner!

Love your work and thank you for the read.  You rock from Edward Zia!

Thank You to Those Who Give up their Saturday For Success: We had one Rocking Forum!

We had one Awesome Happiness and Marketing Forum today with Awesome Entrepreneurs who GAVE UP THEIR SATURDAY for Success. Well done!

We had one Awesome Happiness and Marketing Forum today with Awesome Entrepreneurs who GAVE UP THEIR SATURDAY for Success. Well done!

Today was an amazing day for the lovely Jude Dowsett and Edward Zia (me) in running our “Awesome Happiness and Marketing Forum II” in the beautiful beachside Regional City of Wollongong NSW.

It’s a Half-Day Free Workshop (sponsored by us) just for lovely Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs where we help them on the house.

We got some amazing reviews and are totally humbled with the feedback we received.

What impressed me today about this experience was the amazing people who would gladly give up their Saturdays to work on their business.

Think about it for a second, these people who came said:

“Yes I am tired.  Yes I want to sleep in. BUT I am committed to my success and want to learn new things!”

That is totally awesome and when I started out in business I remember a great quote that inspires me to this day.  Many business owners like myself start out “Business Networking” to get clients and build their power-influence base and I recall doing exactly that.  As I had no money then (common for start-ups), there was a lot of fear I remember about going networking.  Really fear based questions I would ask myself “What if I go out and get no clients? What if I can’t pay my bills?” and lots of lame stuff like that.

The great quote was:

“You are half-way there just by showing up!”

That really inspired me early days and I remember I would have some days I would get up just feeling like “Yuk!”.  I would be tired, run down, fear based and I would just push myself to do it.  Then that morning after making myself go to the networking event, I would get a new client and say to myself “OMG! If I didn’t do that, I would be down lots of money!”.

Over time this quite inspired me to that simple logic in that half of success is quite easily just “Showing Up” and doing the work.  I remember at the time I was surrounded by lots of people who were “Better than me” (which are all back at work now) that would always tell me how I should work my business, but as I networked more and harder I got the success and they didn’t.

Bringing it back to the great people who joined us at our Forum today, I just want to say that THEY ARE AMAZING. Giving up their time to learn more to help their lives and families (or families to come).

My advice and learnings from today? It reminded me that if you want to do better than the “Average Person” you must deliver a way more exceptional game. That can be different for anyone – and in my mind it means making that extra effort to be extraordinary.  Getting up early, working Saturdays, learning great ideas, networking more – all of that good stuff!

Thank you for the read and THANK YOU to those who joined us today.  Love you work and you rock from Edward Zia!

Walking the Gangplank: Happily Watching Jude turn her Life Around!

Edward Zia (myself) with the lovely Jude Dowsett. She is an amazing woman who I have been very lucky to watch & share her journey in turning her life around. Inspirational!

Edward Zia (myself) with the lovely Jude Dowsett. She is an amazing woman who I have been very lucky to watch & share her journey in turning her life around. Inspirational!

As I sit here with the lovely Jude after a fine dinner, we are planning and getting ready for the “Awesome Happiness and Marketing Forum II” which we are doing tomorrow (1/2 day Saturday) in the beautiful beachside Regional Centre of Wollongong (NSW).

In being with the Awesome Jude I have seen a very strong woman overtime work hard on turning her life around.  With permission to tell her story, she was a Single Mother for some years 100% Dependent on Government Benefits for survival.

Before we were got engaged and started out together – she actually used to be a client and I recall her utter drive in learning what she could about Sales & Marketing from me and how she could apply it to turn her circumstances around.

In watching her from both a “Marketing Mentor” and of course being her proud “Other Half” I have seen a lot of pressures she has gone through over time.  In watching her learn how to get her basic Elevator Pitch right, get business names, build logos, get business cards and the lot – I have seen her go through the difficult phases of startups.

Right too as well getting her first original base of clients and moving from there – it reminded me of how hard it is starting and out what I went through.

What I find unique about her (as well as being a great base of entrepreneurial success) is how she can just “Handle” the “Bad” times of starting out in business.  Be it the rejections, having no money and having to work hard to build her profile.

My advice and learnings from watching her? If you are starting out – it takes guts, commitment to make it.  You can do it, but you really must WANT IT.  If you have been around for a while in business never forget how hard it’s starting out.

Thank you for the read Awesome Friends and Love your work!

Martha's Super Lucky Birthday Gift Special Number 1 Website Deal is Out! Brilliant and Awesome, details are right here on 'The Edward Files!'

Martha’s Super Lucky Birthday Gift Special Number 1 Website Deal is Out! Brilliant and Awesome, details are right here on ‘The Edward Files!’

It’s been years now in that I have worked with my Amazing Trusted Friend from “The Trusted Web Expert” Martha Arifin.  She is an Ex-Graphic Designer who I have known for years and refer lots of website work too.

She is exceptional at Premium “Small Business Websites” and has done a great job of the dozens we have worked on together over the years. To help my awesome colleague, I am proud to help her announce her promotion lasting to the end of 2014:

“Martha’s Super Lucky Birthday Gift Special #1 Website Deal” (Download the PDF Flyer Here)

We both worked on her concept together and if you have followed my humour know me in the real world, I am a massive fan of the South Park / Family Guy / American Dad type of “Racial Jokes”.  I of course am Middle Eastern (and not white) so I am allowed to make jokes like these and shifting the spotlight to Martha, she of course is Asian.

In taking this probably not so “Politically Correct” humour too far, we came up with a concept of Martha using a “Chinese Restaurant” angle with her promotion.  That is, the whole “Broken English” Super Good Fortune, A-OK USA #1, Best Esteemed Quality, Top Lucky Special type of “Stereo-Type Joke”.

So far it’s gone really well! From other ethnic minorities like Martha and myself there has been some great laughs and our “White Australian Friends” have enjoyed a giggle too!

Talking business now, as for the promotion it’s great.  If you book in for a website with Martha prior to December 12th 2014, you can get a Free Mailchimp Account Setup or Facebook Page Setup.  Very nice and if you are keen – contact Martha to learn more!

Staying Sane in Sydney: Expect a Challenge and you will go to Bed Smiling!

Living in Sydney is a challenge and life is anything but easy here! I think by accepting that and realizing that life will send challenges each day our way makes it easier to deal with, fun and way more productive.

Living in Sydney is a challenge and life is anything but easy here! I think by accepting that and realizing that life will send challenges each day our way makes it easier to deal with, fun and way more productive.

On a slightly different vein talking away from Sales & Marketing and more to just “Life in Sydney” – I was reflecting on an amazing conversation I had with Graham Fitzpatrick.  He is a dynamic Sales Manager from Vintage FM and I quite like him.  Ethical, kind, knows his stuff and is a “Radio Man” who has been in the industry for years.

I have known him for several years and although I don’t see him that often, whenever we do – we rapidly connect and share great ideas.  At 4Networking Bella Vista this morning we were talking about just life in Sydney and Business.  That is, you solve one problem, another one comes up, you fix that, then another one comes up and we were both talking about the honest frustrations we have both felt over time.

One absolute Gem I came across probably only one month ago was a BBC Interview with Sheikh Mohammed – the Ruler of Dubai.  He is part of the family and one of the key masterminds that turned a small desert into the amazing city of “Dubai” today and when I was visiting that Desert City earlier this year I became quite enamored by him.

In listening to some of interviews and the BBC interview (which is easy to find on YouTube – just search “SHEIKH MOHAMMED”) he talks about his own experiences and gives a real frank view of what Dubai has done well and not so well.  One topic that came up was when Dubai got into some deep financial trouble a few years back.

As the Sheikh was squeezed by the reporter, he calmly gave this great response about him not panicking at that time.  Basically he said:

“Life here is a challenge.  Getting water.  Getting something to eat.  Every day is a challenge and all can be overcome”.

His confidence was quite strong and watching this interview really hit me between the eyes in the context of challenges and life.  I always used to think very incorrectly that “When I fix / achieve X then life will be good”.

The reality that myself and Graham have both found is that this is so not true! Life in Sydney is a massive challenge.  Having enough money to pay for bills, keeping your bosses / clients happy, dealing with traffic and staying safe in a massive Metropolis is anything but easy.  It’s hard!

I think when you wake up expecting things to be “Easy” or that you are thinking that “When the problems are fixed I will be happy” – you are just asking for trouble.  That is, life is just not “Easy” and there are always “Challenges” of one form or another.  I have found that when you wake up expecting challenges, it makes life actually quite happy.  You don’t get disappointed anymore, you approach the “Reality of Sydney Life” with a positive frame and you know that you will always have problems till the day you die so you work through them with a smile.

Speaking with Awesome Graham helped this penny drop for me and himself too and my advice from all this? LIFE IS HARD! I don’t care what all the American Positive Speakers who want to sell you $20,000 courses say – it is hard.  When you just admit that and approach things with the “Challenge” mindset say from the Sheikh it makes life easier, fun and more productive.

I have had a few rough days lately.  I tweaked my back due to some bad posture, have had to work some long hours and I have still been smiling through it.  Why? Life is a challenge and shall always be – so I may as well enjoy it.

I trust these more non-Sales & Marketing Thoughts Help! Edward Zia.

Creating Marketing Smackdowns: Building Passion as seen with the PC Vs. Apple Debate!

With the brilliant PC Technology out, Apple Users are nervous and they know Microsoft, Google, Samsung and Lenovo is out. The Marketing Smackdown is on and I love it!

With the brilliant PC Technology out, Apple Users are nervous and they know Microsoft, Google, Samsung and Lenovo is better and they just can’t handle it. The Marketing Smackdown is on and I love it! (Thank you to Grant Dempsey for defiling my banner with this Apple Product in it x x).

It’s been quite a while since I used the Term “Marketing Smackdown” and it’s exactly that – it’s basically when companies get people that excited about their products / services that people start taking sides.  One can see this often in areas such as Sporting Teams, Cars and also Technology.

Obviously I am a technology guy right on the side of PC’s / Microsoft / Google – fighting the evil forces of Apple and their “We are so like totally better ego” combined with average products that lost their edge years ago (and incredibly high prices to boot).  As you can see, I am right in the thick of it.

Yes, I am a hardcore Microsoft PC guy and I love it.  In fact, I am so known for that (and my love of my Surface Pro 3) to the point where people even rattle my cage on the topic.  Be it awesome friends such as Grant Dempsey (MD of 4Networking Australia) taking photos of my banner with Apple Technology, or Martha Arifin (from Trusted Web Expert) tagging me in images of her iPhone 6 on Facebook – we all are enjoying the fine “Smackdown” that is playing out.

What is just uniquely beautiful looking at this from the perspectives of the Corporates is that we are basically “Playing into their hands”.  Sporting teams are well known for this and in the case of Microsoft Vs. Apple – they reignited the “Smackdown” by putting the Surface 3 Pro head-to-head with the Macbook Air.  Basically, they are trying to give people like me as much “Ammunition” as possible to tell the world how great their products are and the like.

This great fun experience of talking about the beauty and the benefits of Microsoft to Apple Lovers and got me thinking on a more personal level in that “How can we get people passionate about what we do as Business Owners?”.

I get that comparing Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs like ourselves to a company owned by the Worlds Richest Man and a leading technology company (with very overpriced products of course) is a long stretch, but I do ask you to consider this:

“How can you market in a way to get people passionate about what you do?”.

This is not an easy question to answer, but if one does – the rewards can be extremely profitable.  My thinking on the topic (as what I am trying to do) is really make sure your business has a clear point of difference.  There is also nothing wrong at all to be a bit “Out There” and controversial in your views.  If you say think something that you know is 100% correct and is rare for your industry, it’s great to really stand out and be direct with it.

For example, in what I do – not many people in my industry at all are as generous with information as I am.  In fact, I often call people on that and demand decent explanations of why Mentors, Coaches and Consultants do have massive lock-in contracts for their clients and for whatever reason they are reluctant to give away information till someone signs the “Dotted Line”.  I don’t have contracts or anything like that in what I do – and many of my old peers who criticized me aren’t even in the industry anymore.  My views were controversial at the time, but it helped me get noticed and get successful.  For me – my blogging experience now has helped me get more exposure and attention.

My advice? Think through of what you can say with 100% Ethical Integrity to really get people engaged and excited about what you do.  Great Marketing gets noticed, so keep figuring out that angle to get you plenty of awesome attention.

Thank you and love your work Awesome Friends! Edward Zia

No Overwhelm Around Here! The Importance of Doing LESS things BETTER!

Sometimes life and business can be OVERLOADING with so many things going on. I have attained my own 'Quantum of Solace' by doing less things WAY BETTER. Do Less More I Say!

Sometimes life and business can be OVERLOADING with so many things going on. I have attained my own ‘Quantum of Solace’ by doing less things WAY BETTER. Do Less More I Say!

Overwhelm sucks.  Let’s face it.  Be it you are at University starting out, in a new job or say starting your business the emotion of “Overwhelm” or more likely:

– Holy F&$K Batman, what on Earth do we do next and how are we going to get it all done?

If anything, that has been my own personal feelings many times when it comes to successfully building and running ones business. Many of my awesome clients and myself included can vouch for this – be it you are starting out or been going for a while and ready to “Expand” it’s going to be quite a bit of work to get you there.

In fact, it can be a lot of work and when you first face the pending job, it can be a very daunting and challenging type of experience.  Not just in terms of the workload, but also having the particular amount of “Cash” to keep it moving.  One challenge in my business was answering this call of duty earlier on.  There was a point early 2014 where I was doing Seminars, Online, Running Copious amounts of Networking Groups and trying to lead a normal life.  It wasn’t normal at all, in fact it was very hard and in those circumstances getting things done was an issue.

When I went on my Global Business Trip May 2014, I took it as a bit of time out to work on my strategy and focus on what I really need to do.  It turned out that I had to make a decision! In fact, I had to:

– Give a few things up and pick a direction!

That is it! I can’t be a Seminar Guy, an Online Guy, a Consulting Guy and the lot all at once.  It wasn’t happening and I thought it all through and made the call to drop the Seminars and focus on Consulting with my Awesome Clients (who made me what I am today) and my Online Strategy.

This was a great call and the strategy has played out just beautifully over the past say 4 – 5 months.  My life is easier, I am getting more done and because I am doing LESS things, I am getting MORE financial performance out of them.  For me now, my life is about getting processes in place, getting it more simpler so I can focus on what I need to do.

My advice? Don’t get burned out like I have and make sure you are keeping a tight focus on your projects.  If you are like me and want to do “Everything” – it’s great ambition and I find it’s not about doing less, it’s about doing more and going DEEPER into what you have so it performs much better.  For example – my Blog is totally rocking and been great for my business. All because I can dedicate more focus to it.

Do LESS things way BETTER! I trust this helps and hit that Overwhelm with a stick I tell you! Of course if you aren’t doing enough, then hit your own butt with the stick x x

Love your work!
