I am pumped and in the zone after watching an action packed Star Trek Into Darkness. It’s a remake of the original Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan and as a proud ‘Trekkie’ I would like to apologise to my fans and my community.
I didn’t actually watch Star Trek Into Darkness when it came out and I just watched it then. I hold no excuses for failing watching it on release and all I have to do is apologise and take responsibility for my actions.
As a ‘Trekkie’ much more is expected of me and I get that! (lol)
After finally going back and watching it; I was pumped to see the remake was just brilliant. It had lots of throw backs to the original and being a man who is not too far from 40 got me thinking about the Original 60’s series of Star Trek and what makes it brilliant.
If you follow any episode or movie, it’s about the Enterprise Crew being in being in situations where they are severely stuffed where their world gets turned upside down.
You have spoke the ‘logical’ and ‘structured’ Vulcan and ‘cowboy’ Kirk always fighting, disagreeing and ultimately it’s human emotion and ‘gut feel’ that wins in the end.
In fact it’s those emotional scenes of ‘no logic’ that makes the film and it got me thinking about one of the many reasons Star Trek is so popular. What I get out of Star Trek is trusting your subconscious mind and your ‘gut feel’. Very rarely my gut feel is wrong (in fact it never has been) and if you dig that little bit deeper; it’s actually your subconscious mind speaking to you.
Our subconscious mind is far smarter than our conscious mind and in fact many of said that our ‘conscious control’ is just an illusion. Our gut feel is our subconscious mind speaking to us telling us what to do and what not to do.
Everytime I have gone against it, I have lost! Every time I have gone with it, I have turned out to be 100% correct. You see this play out in Star Trek and it’s amazing.
My advice and thinking? Trust your gut feel. Like Star Trek shows, it will save you in many crazy, unknown situations where you would lose otherwise. It has saved me many times and I highly recommend you consider that in your own business decision making.
Love your work, thanks for the read, thank you Star Trek and of course ‘The Original Series’ for creating Khan who has influenced us today.
