I love Sydney and sometimes you gotta protect your turf!

This is more or less my last day of meeting clients for the week before Christmas. I am very excited about everything and I actually met a great client and friend for a fantastic lunch just then.

He is an amazing man and after we worked on heavy Sales & Marketing we started sharing ideas and thinking about our lives and what we have been through.

One thing we spoke about was of course being awesome and the tragic (and totally stupid) people that engage in ‘skulduggery’. It’s quite a cool word that I am planning to add to my vocabulary which according to Google means:

skulduggery

underhand, unscrupulous, or dishonest behaviour or activities.

“a firm that investigates commercial skulduggery”

We spoke at length about people that have been shonks and if I think of any of my clients and friends in business; they share many stories like this.

It’s not a positive thing to talk about, but it happens too many of us. Most people are awesome out there; however at times it can equally ‘be a jungle’. It is beautiful, it’s awesome & however there are some critters that will eat you if you let them.

What I have learned over the years is that you must be careful and take action very quickly if something bad is done against you. It can happen in many common ways including:

–          Someone not paying you after taking quality services (they probably had that setup from day one).

–          High school politics which sometimes can play out in networking groups (tragically).

–          Giving someone a referral, that person stuffs it up and then doesn’t take responsibility for the rightfully unhappy client.

–          Someone unethically and wrongly attacks one of your friends / clients / business partners.

–          And so on!

There can be many untoward behaviours and my advice and lessons over the years is to take immediate action. Ignoring it rarely (if never) makes it go away and it’s critical to be proactive.

Also too, it makes people really respect you more and not try anything funny.

My advice and thinking? Your rock! Defend yourself. Speak up and be heard.

Sure there may be fireworks at times but stand your ground and I as long as you have justice and facts on your side I pledge that you will get the upper hand and come out on top.

Love your work, thanks for the read and stay awesome!
