I have been doing lots of reflecting on my 2016 to make sure my strategy is sound and I am up for massive wins in 2017.

Helping my clients deliver means everything to me and I always peg my own success on theirs. Interestingly for what I do I meet lots of friends and clients to be at events of all sorts. Be it Government Presentations, Social Events, Formal Networking, Business ‘Get Togethers’ – you name it; that is where it all happens.

Some are people I meet direct, some are referrals and what have blown me away is how profitable attending events has been for me. In 2016 I would have visited say 80 events (a bit under 2 per week on average). If I am incredibly over conservative; let’s say I picked up $80,000 worth of revenue through attending / running events (it would be at least $120,000 but for argument sake).

Let’s then go extra hard and just cut this in half by 50% assuming these clients came from meetings in the previous year. I am going quite extreme here, but I want this to be on the money.

That works out to $500 per event!

Wow, I think that is really good and until I actually did the maths I didn’t realise it was that high. The trick with all this is that this all averages out over a series of events. I may go to an event and pick up a client that pays me $12,000 over 12 months, or even purchases my online course for a modest $97 / month.

Someone may see me how I say hello too; that refers me to someone else who then turns into a client. One time I had a great night and picked up $4,400 consulting job in an evening. Not bad I think 🙂

The point being is that Business Networking is a great technique for many including myself and it’s important to really think through what is performing for you. In what I do running Events, Attending Events, Facebook, Email Marketing just works great for me. I love it in fact!

My advice and thinking? For many (if not all) of you reading this article attending events and meeting people will be a strong technique for you. It does take time to get started, you must of course attend the right events and make sure your business delivers massive value.

Once you have that, it paves the way for massive wins. For my 2017 I want to attend more events! I am actually going to keep count now as I am going to hit 2 x this week (and it’s still holidays for many).  $500 per event I go too; not bad I think!

Get out there and explore; for my friends in Sydney, NSW Business Chamber is highly recommended. Love your work, go hard and win big in 2017!
