'Lady Karma' pays us all a visit eventually. Scarface (1983) is a great story of that.

For whatever odd reason; as more time passes, I get more successful in business (thank you JC), I draw more on the key lessons and experiences I had when I started out in a Military / Policing career.

One key lesson you learn very early in the service is that people who do the wrong thing here and there usually actually get away with it. However, the one’s that do the bad things all the time eventually run out of time.

Be it they one day mess with the wrong person, finally get busted by the authorities for illegal behaviour or say pure ‘lady karma’ pays them a visit that results in a Greek tragedy.

What has made me think along this context was actually a through provoking meeting with an old friend. I actually met this very kind man some years back in the Sydney Business Scene and recently we were able to reconnect over a fine lunch.

During our time we have seen many Networking Groups come and go with the key obvious trends fitting what this article started with. All the people that were not very nice and ultimately self-serving didn’t last in the networking game.

Their networking groups either shrunk to oblivion, they sold them off for a fraction of what they were worth at their peaks and interestingly too; the businesses that were not ‘Customer First’ didn’t last either.

Talking to the thankful positive; the great people are still around today and are quite successful. I can’t actually think of one person who fits the definition of ‘awesome’ that didn’t succeed which to me is fine restoration in humanity, capitalism, democracy and of course ‘lady karma’.

Putting aside so much the metaphysical and talking to the pragmatic; I think there are tangible reasons why this is the in case. Ultimately:

Good People:

– Liked, respected, given referrals, people protect them and they ultimately get chosen for their high value services.

Bad People:

– Disliked, never referred too and people understandably applause when they fall.

It sounds quite dark, but it’s very true and we both had a great conversation on this wavelength.

My advice and thinking? Like in the awesome movie Scarface you can get away with ‘shonky’ stuff for a while, even years! However, it eventually catches up with you.

The reverse is true too! Wonderful people that are kind, helpful and the like get know, loved and become highly respected Corporate Citizens.

Think of it this way. You need say to buy a given service. You know two people. All is equal. One sucks, one rocks – you obviously hire the good one!

Thank you my anonymous friend from today for inspiring this article, thank you for reading this and here is to getting ‘lady karma’ to visit us for the right reasons. Good deeds get remembered for a very long time…
