Building your Marketing ‘Ecosystem’

It's complex yet powerful. Know your marketing is an ecosystem with parts that work together!

I was very lucky to meet with a very new awesome client last night. We had a marathon 3 hour productive session at the Novotel Parramatta and it was a very savvy husband and wife team who is on a massive mission of success.

It was an absolute pleasure working with them and what struck me as amazing is how much actually goes into marketing. I know that sounds completely obvious coming from myself; however when you actually sit there and work through every channel after channel it gives a salient reminder as to how massive this area is and what it really takes.

We covered massive areas including:

  • Websites
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Email Marketing
  • Segmentation
  • Graphical Editing
  • Blogging
  • SEO
  • Google Adwords
  • Facebook Insights
  • Google Analytics
  • Mailchimp Analytics
  • Wording
  • Copy
  • Writing
  • Motivation
  • KPIs

And the list goes on! It was totally insane and we all loved it and I bet they are getting into the great stuff today in productive powerhouse style. As I reflect on last night and what I have done in my own business; ones marketing is really a massive ecosystem.

What I mean by this remark (and quoting / acknowledging Microsoft on this one) is that it’s not just one thing on it’s own. All of our marketing is connected to each other. If you do one thing on Facebook, you may have clients in your database that see it, which means they read their emails more, meaning the visit your website and are more likely to become a lead.

Equally you can have someone who is say an old customer and they find you on Google by accident and then they ‘reactive’ themselves. If you really think about it, people learn about us from a range of ways that all overlaps and intersects.

I used to take a very ‘pillar’ / ‘silo’ viewpoint being “Oh Facebook will make me lots of money”. Although that statement is very true and valid, it works in conjunction with everything else.

My thought and advice on this one? All of our marketing works together and comes together in it’s own unique way. It fully interacts and it’s great to keep that in mind as you work away.

For me that is totally true and working with those awesome new clients last night really reminded me of that.

Love your work, thanks for the read and stay awesome!
