The 2017 NSW Business Chamber State Business Awards Gala rocked with lots of incredible people!

I spent my Friday evening in a room full of wonderful winners.

It was the “2017 NSW Business Chamber State Business Awards Gala” where was over 1,000 people at the at International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC) to compete in the final state awards.

It was the most incredible business event I have ever attended. This means alot coming from me in that I have attended almost a thousand of events over the past decade.

You had incredible people speaking and entertaining, an already elite room of successful self-made entrepreneurs and powerful corporates. Melbournian comedian Dave Huges was the MC (I am a massive fan), you had Dami Im sing with a beautiful rendition of the anthem, Lord Mayor Clover Moore, State Premier Gladys Berejiklian MP and the list goes on!

The ICC Conference & Banquets staff included a lot of their elites and it was a room of just successful people. What I found fascinating was how they all behaved differently compared to the masses. I find unpacking their behaviour quite a learning exercise. Enjoy my insights:

–          They care for other people. People will really hold open doors, let you go first, pick up anything if you drop it and are just lovely.

–          Everyone loves what they do and are passionate about their work. Be it a successful café owner, Gladys herself, a good-looking Marketing Mentor (me) or a top Qantas Corporate; everyone is hooked to their work.

–          People are really healthy and in good shape. Regardless of what people do for a living, you can tell they are taking care of themselves. Be it someone who takes cycling to extreme or someone who takes it easy at dessert times, they all rock.

–          Everyone is ‘customer first’. That is, they love their customers and they know it’s their future.

–          They are very intelligent. I mean this in an ‘earned intelligence’ sense in that they became smart from getting straight into their work.

–          They know how to dress! Everyone dressed to their own speciality in their own unique way. I stuck to my ‘Tech Entrepreneur’ roots with my black top, suit jacket and designer jeans; the ‘successful hippies’ would really take that to the wonderful extreme.

–          Everyone just rocked.

You could do a study of successful people at just this event alone.

My advice and thinking? As we know the traits of successful people, we can model it ourselves. That is, if we know successful people are usually healthy and we say are not; it’s a wake-up call to go and get healthy. As we get healthy, we get more productive and will probably go and achieve something big.

It was an incredible night and I just loved it. Bravo NSW Business Chamber, you’ve done it again!

Enjoy and till next year!
