It goes without saying, that the leader of NSW Business Chamber would be very smart. Stephen Cartwright is exactly that.
You can tell from a mile away that he has led some powerful organisations and his leadership is making the Chamber become even better.
I was extremely lucky to speak with him the other day and I knowing he was busy, it was a short, yet powerful conversation.
As we spoke, I asked / stated to Stephen “I bet you’re winning all the time?”. His reply wasn’t what I expected, but very true and honest, “No Ed, I lose part of the time. It’s just that my wins are bigger than my losses”.
This was a very smart thing to say and it reminded me as to the reality of business and life. You can’t be winning all the time, but if you are winning more than you are losing; you are ahead.
My advice and thinking? Stephen is in the zone when he says that. There is no way you will win all the time and that’s cool.
Just get big wins, and it’s all worth it!
