Facebook has just been fantastic for my business. If you are following my page you will see my posts of anything from my cat (which the awesome Joel Curtis nick named ‘The Ginger Ninja’) right through to seriously fun posts inviting people to coming Live Webinars.
I am quite an active poster with usually about 5 – 10 posts a day (similar to many of the FB pro’s & emerging stars I know) and it’s been a great way of getting me great clients, expanding my community and having fun.
As a Facebook Blogger / Active User – you have some times with really slow engagement. Today / Saturday has been like that. Yesterday I was a hit on Facebook with today very light interaction.
This can impact one slightly in terms of motivation – you are putting out posts and no one cares! (Or at least you feel that way).
What is the strange truth of Facebook in this regard is that many people actually do watch you – but just don’t interact. I have done posts which I have thought “No one liked it”, for it to get me new leads leading to awesome new clients.
Also too, some days my posts are average and I don’t get many likes. Then sometimes I feel like a FB celebrity who is totally smiling and in the zone. I think there is a bit of luck involved in that you only need to get a few likes, it shows up on other people’s feeds and you get tons of exposure (even viral sharing).
The trick with Facebook is knowing you will have some quiet days and some totally awesome days where you feel like a YouTube star.
My advice and learning? Just keep posting! Every time I have felt very insecure about what I have been doing, I just keep posting. Things pick up again and then back in the zone.
Don’t let volatility of popularity impact you, play the long-term game and keep posting. I get lots of clients from FB so I love it! More to come for me.
