Pure gold shared by Helen Tran. Love your work!

One of my new friends I was lucky to make in 2016 is the awesome Helen Tran.

She originally started visiting our new Sydney CBD workshops at the start of the year and as I got to know her I found her a very cool, savvy and intelligent character.

Helen is quite active on LinkedIn and she shares really good content and I saw just then actually a post on the ‘Decline of Traditional Media’ and the rise of social media.

It is research from the global Advertising Agency “Ogilvy & Mather” and it showed that 50% of people get their news from Social Media. Think about that for a second:

– 50% of people get their news from Social Media!

That is a huge point to consider in that only say 5 to 10 years ago, I bet it would have been 5 to 10%. If anything this is increasing and there are a lot of reasons for this. One key reason is the credibility and honesty of Traditional Media.

Probably in early 2015 and especially this year; I have really got into politics in a big way. In particular being on the ‘Trump Train’ I have been looking at news sites everywhere. Right from Australian to US publications I have found at least 80% of them to be very bias / borderline deceptive in what they tell us.

A great example I had was looking at a US newsite showing me a poll some months ago that Donald Trump was 12%+ on Hillary. Looking at a left news site in Australia, it was full of article saying how Trump is doing to lose and he is miles behind. It was two situations; either they are just not telling the truth or they are very slack.

I am not a trained journalist and if I can sit there and in one Google search debunk what I am being told by my media; I can only assume they are doing it deliberately. The powerful thing about Social Media is that it allows us as people to exchange our own ideas, post videos and photos. The mass media can’t lie about the truth when we have evidence posted online.

When you consider that, it’s no wonder say in the US that Trump is winning, you hear quoted all the time that only “6% of the American Public trust the news” and why people are angry.

I think the gig was up some years ago already to the media establishment; for decades they told us all how to think and now we have the means to think for ourselves and share information so we get both sides of the story and can make our own decisions.

My advice and thinking? Expect lots of traditional media to go down, get bought out and disappear. The ones that actually speak the truth and give the facts I think are here to stay; but the ones who have taken us a ride shall go to the annals of history .

The truth always comes out, no matter how much you supress it.

Thank you Helen Tran for the share, thank you Ogilvy and thank you for taking the time to read this.

P.S. For my fans out there “Trump, Trump, Trump!” lol
