Hello Awesome People!
It’s been several years now since I met the “Quiet Asian Website Girl”.
Some years ago I was in a shared Networking Event project and I remember first hearing from this detailed character in how they built websites that sold. I had no idea that 3 years later we’d be Business Partners, running Shared Workshops (such as the Profitable Marketing Forum) and would have a endless list of shared clients and wins together.
In looking back, I am very lucky to have met Martha in that my business & life would not have the richness (or the probable size) it does today. She does amazing websites (as you can see at Jehbco here as a sample), is a very ethical and considered character and is a pleasure to work with.
I get asked all the time, “Edward how do I find great Business Partners?”. Well, the truth of the matter is that it can take some time. I have worked with many people as referral partners over the years and had my fair share of people taking and not giving back. Equally speaking too, I have met some amazing people over the years who I have forged deep personal and working friendships with. What I have learned is that great referral partners are hard to find and I can count my best partners on one hand.
BUT – the great partners form very profitable partnerships that is great for everyone. I always say to clients that you want about 5 x great referral partners and the trick to finding them is just keeping your eyes out, meeting lots of people and being the first one to pass on referrals. It’s important to give first and what happens is simply this:
– You get the Selfish Piggy’s that take, then everyone hates them and often fail in business (I am thinking of one person in particular who really did this to me one).
– You get the Awesome Kind people that give, then everyone loves them and they often get better and bigger in business (Martha Arifin being a prime example of this).
My advice & thinking? People like Martha Arifin don’t come around every moment but when they do the best thing is to do your best to look after them with tons of help and quality referrals. The good ones like her will give back and before you know it – you will be referring each other lots of business and helping each other win in a profitable manner.
Start looking, meet lots of people, you will be disappointed at times – but equally speaking, you will meet your “Martha’s” and get some amazing results.
