Forever inspired – love events and Parramatta Chamber!
It’s 8:05AM as I write this blog at a fantastic Parramatta Chamber ‘Before 9’. They are these great large scale breakfasts where you get to meet people, enjoy fine coffee and learn from some really good speakers.
Today they are actually talking Facebook and Google and it is full of fine people. I have some clients in the room and I totally love it.
What actually happened a few months ago was that I started going to less business networking events as I “got busy”. Interestingly I was focusing a bit on the wrong areas in my business and I figured that I could save time by going to less events.
This was a really big mistake in that I started to lose a bit of energy personally, I acquired less clients in those months, I wasn’t as quickly boosting my own circle of influence and finally; it cost me opportunities.
For whatever reason; in my own mind I started devaluing going to events all the time and quite quickly I realised it wasn’t a good move. Like a man of massive self reflection; I learned my lesson and got back on the horse and surprise surprise, it’s all happening big time for me.
I have also found that regardless of people’s success or ranking in their industry; the top ones are continually out there and meeting people. If anything at times; I have gone to many events and incorrectly felt like I haven’t achieved anything.
Then one day, I pick up a massive client which totally rocks.
My lessons and advice over the years? Events rock and go to a few a week. I like going to 2 to 3 per week and it just works. You get inspired. You get an opportunity to help others. You get hired. You win continually.
Get out there, go to great events, hit your business chambers and explore your city. It’s not only fun, but a very profitable experience.
