You got to keep a close eye on the details. Otherwise you may get done in the ‘Garden of Betrayal’ LOL

Hello Awesome People!

Business & Marketing Automation are two very critical areas for the success and upscaling of any Entrepreneurial Small Business. In terms of totally walking the walking and talking the talk, they have been (and remain) key areas of focus in my business right now.

For me, setting up very basic things like Mailchimp Autoresponder Emails to the advanced end of the spectrum with Facebook Advertising Campaigns & Online Products – these aspects have made my life easier and helped my business expand.

One of my colleagues and trusted partners is the Awesome Kristy Smith from Virtual Elves. She is a Business Mentor & Automation Expert who I have a massive level of respect for and I invited her to Guest Blog right here on ‘The Edward Files’. Enjoy!

“What Jon Snow Can Teach Us About Business” – Guest Blog by Kristy Smith:

Many of us who are fans of Game of Thrones watched in abject horror recently as one of the pivotal and most loved characters, Jon Snow, had their potential unceremoniously cut short in true Game of Thrones style (i.e brutally betrayed and slain in a most unseemly manner.)

We wept, we mourned, we raged, we took to social media to pose the question:

What kind of lesson can be born out of the depths of our grief?

Well, it is simply this: Jon Snow lost sight of the smaller details. In his noble quest to stop those pesky White Walkers, Jon failed to notice that things were falling apart all around him at his home base south of the wall – and justice was ultimately served.

So what can this teach us about our own businesses? Well, just as Jon Snow was captain of the Night Watch – so too are you responsible for steering your business towards success and prosperity. To do this, it is crucial of course to keep your focus on the bigger picture.

It’s a busy life being an entrepreneur! You want to be competitive, keep an eye on market trends, innovate with new service and product ideas, stay relevant by attending events and networking…and all this while still keeping the gears turning on the day to day operations of your business!

With all of your attention absorbed by this higher end strategy, it can be easy to forget about those little operational tasks, which may seem less important but are actually essential to your business success.

As the builders say, the larger stones do not lie well without the lesser – Plato

So while you’re forging ahead focussed on the big picture and core aspects of your business – make sure that it’s not falling to pieces behind you. You can do this by:

1.       Laying the Foundations: Don’t run ahead without first making sure you have the foundations set up to sustain your efforts. Ensure you have systems and processes in place – these are the backbone of any business.

2.       Asking For Help: Build a team to support you in your quest, foster trust and good working relationships with the people who help you run your business.

3.       Automating: Utilise the wonderful plethora of technologies at your fingertips to automate what you can, saving you time and getting your business working for you when you’re not in the office – or even while you’re sleeping!

So while Jon Snow met with an unfortunate fate, we can ultimately learn from his mistakes and write our own happy ending.

And you don’t have to do this alone! Outsourcing is an affordable and scalable way to get the assistance you need for your business. With the right processes, systems, staff and know how you can release yourself from the shackles of day to day operations and focus on the visions, strategies and ideas that will propel your business into the big time.
