You want to be remebered for the right reasons!

Over the past few days I have actually been at home resting up. Picked up tons of new clients, been very busy and now relaxin’ and chillin’ until the start of the new week.

I have never been really into the Olympics (although I think they are awesome) and I have been watching all sorts of crazy antics come out of Rio. From losers not shaking hands with their opponents out of sour grapes / where they are from, ‘Trans’ people mugging journalists, police getting shot at whilst taking a wrong turn and winding up in a favela; right through to preachy opening ceremonies and now green pools – this olympics is one for the history books.

Tragically I wish Rio Olympics would go down in history for better reasons and I bet this will be a conversational point every four years for me as I reached middle aged and one day have a grandchild sitting on my knee where I start with “Back in my day…”.

Out of all the antics of the Olympics, my favourite is the green pool. I actually used to be an Industrial Chemist earlier in on my career and treating a green pool is one of the most easiest things ever. It takes basic knowledge and the chemicals used are freely available.

** As I am writing this article I just saw them apologise for using the ‘wrong chemicals’ **

Interestingly and bringing it back to ourselves, Rio Olympics shall probably be remembered for the wrong reasons. It brings me back to the importance of getting it right in business. We can have the best business cards, the most beautiful website and say whatever we want; but unless we get the actual product / end result right things won’t go well for us.

For my own success and what I preach to many awesome people out there is ‘Quality First / Get it right’. Once you get that right and the fundamentals are in place your customers are most likely going to be very happy. As they are happy, they will spread great words about you and your business shall grow organically through word of mouth as well as your marketing effort.

I have seen poor word of mouth kill many businesses and great word of mouth built businesses without any formal type of advertising. The down side of all this (like Rio) is you only have to stuff one thing up and everyone is upon you.

Equally speaking, if you are doing well in every area people are nice and shall refer you with super generosity.

My advice and thinking? Get it right. Don’t stuff it up. If you do, fix it ASAP. Deliver quality. By doing that, you shall be loved and referred by many.
