It's always important to be the one that gives first. For me, no way my business would be as big (assuming I am still around) if I wasn't go generous. Like this Bear & Gift Card I gave away at an event, people love generous people!

After I really messed my life up and lost the farm when I was 29 – 30, as I worked hard to rebuild / restart my life I was very aware of the “Old Thinking” that led to my original death.

Even though I have always been a generous guy of some form, I kind of started to realize that as I come back into my new life – that I really want to achieve success the right way.  That is, not through slick sales pitches, manipulation or anything like that – but through being the one who genuinely is trustworthy that gives away more.

When I was in a crappy job, I started thinking about my business and what it has become today. I would sit there almost forever pondering what I would do, how I would do it and in particular what my different / edge will be.

As this unravelled, I found that almost everyone in my industry (except for a few which I have lots of respect for) don’t give anything away. They may pretend they do – but they are always poorly disguised “Sales Funnels” designed to somehow hood-wink someone into buying their overpriced crappy services.

This I never liked and do this day I have never followed and I my research showed very early on this:

Almost no-one gives away quality information. Why don’t I be one of the first?

I started being very generous in my approach and sharing my Marketing & Business Knowledge with anyone that was willing to listen. At the start, I was more treated as some “Crackpot” with funny ideas and I had to really fight to get my points heard.

Even at the time I had my so called “Friends” laughing at me, telling me how wrong I am, how stupid I am and that I am giving away too much. I ignored those losers who were just greedy (they never succeeded in their businesses) and thank god I did – it was this thinking that led to my success today.

As time passed and my reputation grew – I became a “Proven Trusted Figure” and now my blog is followed by thousands to this day (and thank you for reading this).

This isn’t because of my ego, or I am “Cool” or anything lame like that – it’s simply because of my drive to give away as much as I commercially can to help people in their Businesses & Life.

Over time as I “Proved” I was right through results, I found that in very simple terms it all came down to this:

As I was giving so much away, I could prove to people over time I knew what I was doing. Hence they would end up hiring me!

In all situations and businesses it may be hard to give stuff away – however, when it comes to tips, knowledge, ideas & thinking (especially in Service Businesses such as Consulting, Coaching, Mentoring & the like) it can be very powerful.

My advice and thinking? Be always the one to give first.  You will become a loved character and can do very well.

Thank you for the read & love your work!
