Melbourne! A city with great coffee, food, fashion and Business Chambers.

Even for me, I was under a little bit of pressure over the past week or so. Lots of my friends in Melbourne reported to me that the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“VIC Chamber”) was really good.

I also had the same reports from the team at NSW Business Chamber up in Sydney and visiting the VIC Chamber somehow ended up on my bucket list.

In having a few clients and an emerging footprint in Melbourne (with the shared clients and opportunities with Ray from Swoop Digital) I decided to go in one of those crazy fly in and fly out days. I took the flight out of Sydney at 6:05AM and left Melbourne on the last flight at 8:45PM.

Many are rightfully waiting with their arms folded asking for my report. I knew two things would happen out of last night. I would either be wrong about it and very embarrassed or I would be pumped and writing an awesome article like this giving the following assessment:

  • The Victorian Chamber of Commerce is powerful and highly recommended!

I of course don’t say anything like this lightly and if you are say based in Melbourne or planning on expanding into Melbourne (much like I am right now) these are my reasons of why I think it’s great:

  • The Quality: It is the same crowd, vibe and experience of the highly acclaimed NSW Business Chamber & British Chamber of Commerce in Sydney. You can pick that in about 45 seconds. You get that great mixture of Corporates, Mid Size Businesses with it’s share of Successful Entrepreneurs.
  • The People: The team there are very progressive, helpful and in the zone. I asked lot of questions (over the phone prior) and during my visit and it’s what you expect.
  • The Scene: The location was great, Melbourne Town Hall! A serious spot to hold great events.
  • The Diversity: They are very accepting and almost everyone was in suits. I was wearing Doc Martens, Designer Jeans, my trusty Marine Cap with Christian Bling around my neck. They totally accepted me.
  • The Consistency: They have lots of events, coming up – so a good progressive program.

My advice and thinking? If Melbourne is part of your business strategy it’s great to speak to the Chamber and even visit one of their events. You will not only confirm what I am saying to be true, but you will know in minutes whether it suits you and what you want out of business and life.

Love your work, thank you for the read and watch this space – as I get more and more into Melbourne.
