Many good things and many bad things have happened to me in life, especially over the past few years. I have learned that you never know what may be coming, so be ready to defend yourself and equally - be ready to grab opportunities when they come!

Many good things and many bad things have happened to me in life, especially over the past few years. I have learned that you never know what may be coming, so be ready to defend yourself and equally – be ready to grab opportunities when they come!

I was a very “lucky” man tonight (assuming of course if you believe in the so called illusion of “luck” – another conversation).

After finishing my evening workout I was very lucky to find a nice $50 on the street.  I looked around, made sure it was all good and took it with me.  I have decided to give it to the Salvation Army, so keep an eye on my upcoming blogs and I shall put up there “The Proof” of this act, so you know I haven’t spend it on Beer.

As I was speaking to my better half Jude at the time, it really inspired me immediately to right this article and got me reflecting onto just how life works at times.  I have found in business over the past few years, you really have to “Expect the Unexpected” as the cliche goes.

More times that I can count; I have had multiple clients send me the “Thank you Edward we are finished” email in the morning, only to pick up bigger and better clients that afternoon.  I have had very bad things happen to me in business, and JUST AWESOME AND AMAZING THINGS TOO!

What my driving point is being that “Surprises” are common in life and you get bad ones, great ones and everything else in between.  My own reflections on this has been that when you have “Great Events” happen in your business you are ready to deal with them and respond to them.

In my case, I have had weeks where I have picked up massive clients, been working late throughout the night to keep up with key deadlines and it has been “Tough” in a positive way.  One of the factors that really helps me keep up with at times very ambitious workloads has been my positive health.  That is, all the working out and good food – keeps my health ready so when the workload comes, “I am ready” to take it on and deliver.  When someone calls me a few days before saying “Edward, our speaker dropped us – can you come in and take over?” – I have presentations on hand (or even I can write something) to capitalize on the opportunity.

In short, what I am saying is that equally bad things happen to us in the world and great things happen too.  The $50 I picked up today, wasn’t just sitting on a “Well-Lit” pedestal.  It was quite hard to see and the fact I was out at the gym then, away, healthy and focused – gave me the ability to see it and pick it up.

And I am happy about that! $50 to charity and I shall post Proof of this event I can tell you – that will no doubt feed at least 10 x Homeless People dinner one night.

My advice? Be ready, be open and be focused in life; not just on guard for when negative things happen, BUT being ready to act on Awesome Opportunities that may come your way.

Thanks for the read and love your work!
