My PowerPoint for tomorrow's Webinar. Exciting!

My PowerPoint for tomorrow’s Webinar. Exciting!

For whatever reason I am in a creative flow right now. I have been updating my Marketing Mindset PowerPoint on this rainy Sunday and like a teenage boy playing his XBOX One; I have been indefatigable in my application to the task (I was also proud of my use of ‘Ps’ in the title lol).

If you have seen any of my workshops, you will notice that I am a massive Microsoft PowerPoint buff. I ensure that my presentations have lots of powerful and pointed slides that give the exact information that people need and more.

Through my speaking I get lots of high value clients and 5 star reviews; so I am happy in the knowledge that although it can always be improved; they are in the zone and on the money. Interestingly it got me thinking about a debate I had with an old client some time back. I am the type that will have 40 x slides in a presentation, they would have a maximum of 4 and keep it organic.

I have found over the years that PowerPoint’s with light amounts of content usually don’t support the most informative presentations. The more right slides presented with speed and strength has always struck me as the best approach to win.

There of course is an important caveat to all this; don’t read out the slides! I use lots of slides so NOTHING IS MISSING and it’s also great to send to people afterwards and move with complete speed and style. I have done what must be hundreds of presentations and workshops in my business (not even counting my old Corporate Life) and here are my top 7 tips / insights on PowerPoint:

  • Interesting: Make it really sound great and hit the audience.
  • Top Structure: Introduction, Idea, Proof, Concepts, Take Away, Following Actions, Invite to Sell and the lot – it’s all matters.
  • It’s a tool to help you speak: Being a slave to PPT is not fun for anyone, it’s a tool help grow you and don’t let the ‘Tail Wag the Dog’.
  • Great graphics and imagery: I like lots of different graphics to really keep it spicy and in the zone.
  • Speak with strength: Of course you gotta be engaging and totally interesting!
  • It looks Premium: I take pride in making my PPT’s look beautiful and very premium, everyone loves it.
  • Handouts for everyone: Not always possible or appropriate, however if it can be done I like doing it. It gives people note space, something to take away and really shows your serious.

If you’d like to see me in action, you’re invited to my next Live Webinar – Book here!

My advice and thinking? Everyone uses PowerPoint different and I have found what works for me. Please cherry pick from my ideas and make it work for you. Ultimately; if you are selling, getting great reviews and YOU KNOW it feels good – bravo and love your work. Keep it up.

Love your work, thanks for the read, full appreciation to Microsoft and stay awesome!
