Meet at least 20 people per event! The numbers just work!

As I write this blog, I am buzzing after a wonderful visit to the CBD Sydney Business Chamber. It’s backed by the wonderful team of NSW Business Chamber and it’s grown very quickly under some incredible leadership (thank you Peter May!).

During the event tonight, a lot of people asked me about business networking and how to succeed from this viewpoint. There were different points of answers that I gave with the key point being of meeting at least ’20 people per event’.

That is if I go to a business event I make sure that I speak to at least 20 people. This is a mixture of people I know, new wonderful people with some deep conversations and some ‘hi byes’.

As I speak to 20 people, there is a good chance that a few will be interested in my services! Be it coming to a workshop, joining my Awesome Marketing Vault, hiring me one on one or something wonderful like that.

If I say only spoke to 2 or 3 people it would be really really hard to get business. I would have to be lucky!

If I speak to 20 people, it’s not a problem as the numbers are far more likely to go in my favour.

My advice and thinking? Business Networking is partly a ‘numbers game’ in that we have to just meet lots of people to get those that are interested. I find out of 20 people a few will hate me, a few will love me (and turn into leads) with everyone else in between.

Focus on the people that love you and you love in return! Do it well, get leads and keep winning.
