The Importance of Being “Well-Rested” for Awesome Small Business Sales & Marketing Results!

Small Business Sales and Marketing is Awesome, however it can be very exhasuting at times (epsecially when starting out).  It's always great to be as well rested as possible to keep you sharp and productive!

Small Business Sales & Marketing can take hard work and I have learned you want to be “Awake” when you are doing it!

Recovering from being ill and just overworking myself over the past few years has been a liberating and positive experience overall.  In looking back on my own business success, I was so glad I did all the massive hours and hard roads.  It paved the way with a great business today and for me, it isn’t so much “Working Harder” anymore, it’s more about making my “Processes Work Harder” for me.

In speaking to many people with years on me (with some being self-made multi-millionaires) they all say it’s the same thing which I appreciate.  You start out doing massive hours, then over time it’s more about process and people management.

One interesting lesson I have learned over the time I have been in business is really balancing this relationship.  The reality is that when you start out (say first two years), you really need to do the massive hours to establish yourself.  One challenge many and myself found was the importance of being “Well-Rested”.  That is, if you are working your butt off, doing long massive hours, going to networking events like crazy – the reality is that when it comes to you and your Sales & Marketing effort – you can be really tired and sometimes exhausted!

Being tired and exhausted is not good for any work function (in particular Personal Selling and say writing articles) so you want to do the best that you can to be as well rested as possible.  This keeps you sharp, helps with your conversion rate and just makes the work that much more enjoyable.

My advice from my own mistakes and wins in this area? Book in time for you to take off and do something away from work.  It may only be a few hours, but those few hours are at times all we need to recharge and come back and hit things better.  A well rested mind helps with creativity, selling, thought and general quality of life!
