As I go about town I frequently check in on my Facebook Performance. It works better for me now than it ever has, promoting me while I am busy with clients or sleeping on my couch!

I quite love Facebook and talking my own business, last month I spent about $850 itself on just this platform in my Marketing Mix.  The simple reason is for that is it gives me massive exposure, brings lots of traffic to my website and my posts reached over 24,000 in just the last week from writing this article!

As my “Real World Marketing” in terms of Business Networking, Speaking, Selling is quite maxed out (which I totally love by the way) more and more of my time, development and research is going into Online Marketing, Products and the like.

My own personal success in Facebook has been outstanding and I teach this great platform to many people these days – often using my own results as “Proof” / “Credibility” for it.  One big fear that has been out there for me (originally till I understood it) and many others is the decline in “Organic Reach”.

That is, say on your Fan / Business Page you have spent over the years and have 5,000 likes (which means say 5,000 following your page in common speak).  Organic Reach is the amount of people that your page can reach with no paid advertising.  If you then say do a “Boosted Post” it becomes a sponsored story and one can get amazing exposure in that regard.

What has happened over time is that there has been a massive increase on Facebook in terms of people posting content.  It’s basically to the point where there is simply no way on earth with all the competing content there that people on their main News feeds can absorb it.  If you remember back about early 2013 too – Facebook was really annoying for a while as it was full of stupid motivational images and junk like that.

Facebook has worked hard to ensure it’s algorithm helps show people the content “They want to see”.  This is obviously great from a user perspective in that the Facebook Experience is what you want. For example, if you say “Like” on of your friends posts all the time, it tells Facebook you like that person so their stuff is more likely to appear on your wall.  If you say don’t like another, it will disappear over time (so it tweaks Facebook to suit what you like).

In simple terms, Facebook is cutting back the junk so people see what they want!

This means that for Marketers, our advertisements go to less people.  But I think that is awesome! Why? I think this is awesome because your advertisements are more likely to people that WANT to see it and are more likely to engage / purchase what you are selling.

For me personally, Facebook is getting more and more of a response and I can tell – my posts are going to people that want to see it and I love it.  Sure, I have to use the Boosted Post feature a bit more – but I get thousands of views for some posts for as low as $5. Pretty awesome I think!

I hope that logic helps you with your Small Business Marketing and if you love the way I think, feel free to check out Online Sales & Marketing Educational Course, “The Awesome Marketing Vault” right here!

Have a great one and thank you from Edward Zia! Marketing Mentor and Facebook Fan x x
