Gelato Messina was my way of celebrating a little win. Pumped.

I picked up a new client the other day that I was very proud to pick up. I can’t tell you who they are (just yet), but they are a progressive company in rapid growth that has made some key headlines.

I was quite stoked actually, felt quite privileged and was I very grateful. On the way home, I then stopped at this very awesome place called ‘Gelato Messina’ in Parramatta.

I put up a video of the fantastic chocolate and peanut butter Gelati I was eating titled “Celebrate your achievements” and it hit a nerve with people. It got shared, got people talking and it reminded me of why this is a key point to speak about.

Our society can be commonly more leant to the negative in that very rarely (almost never), do people come along and tell us how wonderful we are. Sure, if we stuff up the slightest thing that will be corrected by someone – but if we get something right don’t expect anyone to congratulate us.

That is my worldview and I bet its a common one! My response to this is congratulating ourselves when we win!

It’s a critical thing to do in the respect that business and success is a very long journey and there can be a lot of knocks along the way. Each of them can have it’s impact and by celebrating our wins with positive acknowledge and nice rewards (e.g. my awesome Gelati) it makes us feel good, gets us all in the zone and helps educate our sub-conscious brain as too how awesome winning is.

As this plays out, it makes us happier – gets us more focused and we tend to win more and more. I have found it very critical from a motivational viewpoint to honestly celebrate every achievement we have.

After all, why do we have to wait for some external voice (that will never come) to congratulate us when we can do it ourselves?

My advice friends? Achieve, succeed and win. Get over your losses quickly by learning from them and everytime you win celebrate that. It can be as little as telling yourself “you are awesome / well done” right through to buying something very expensive for yourself (please do that sparingly lol).

The point being is that if you are a “nice boss” to yourself, you will find yourself working harder, longer and better for that “nice boss”. Hence you will feel better within and your bank account shall no doubt love you.

Thanks for the read, that Gelati was just fantastic and of course – stay awesome!
