Stefan Thomas is a brilliant Operator that I have been extremely lucky to be spending lots of time with in the UK on my fine business trip. If you haven’t met him, he is this fine Ricky Gervais look-alike (but he is much more handsome) and is the Network Director of 4Networking United Kingdom.
This guy has lots of pressure on him with running over 350 x Networking Groups and 15 x of them is even enough for me in Australia. During the 2014 “The Business Show” at Excel in London Docklands he has been quite a prominent figure and one of the key speakers on the topic of Business Networking.
Talking more in an Australian Context in terms of what I do, I think Business Networking is certainly an art more than a science. A lot of people go to Networking Events “To Sell” only to get shredded, not make friends with one of the top Small Business Marketing tools backfiring badly on them.
Stefan (from his company No Red Braces) made some great points about the process and in a short summary he practically summarized it to me into this one line “Relationships and Friendships Lead to Business”. From my shredded expo memory I think he even uttered those powerful lines and I love his great work.
So there you go! One of the Top Business Networks in the world is basing their thinking on this. We were also joking many times about when you meet people that go “Neyyhh Business Networking Sucks and it doesn’t work”. Quoting Grumpy Cat “NO” – it works when you do it properly.
