Hello Awesome People!

One of my old friends Jarratt Davis (who is a high end Forex / Foreign Exchange Trader) is an amazing man who always speaks to the importance of “Being Aware” and even made reference to life, trading & business in the context of “Beware out there, it’s a jungle!”.

A few times recently I have made the mistake of probably letting my guard down and being taken of in business & personal situations. For someone of my training, experience and “Government Days”, it was honestly quite embarrassing for me and every time I have done something silly, I have reminded myself of what awesome Jarratt would tell me in terms of being aware of some of the dangers out there.

Bringing it back to business & marketing in particular, it can be a confusing type of environment in that there are so many different decisions we can make in business. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of marketing strategies out there and there are many that tell us what we want to hear – but may not have our better interests at heart.

I get a lot of great, kind and very motivated people coming to me who have been ripped off by someone. Be it someone who didn’t pay them money they were owed for services, a supplier not deliver or even them coming out from lots of damage of getting bad business advice in one area – I find it tragic that good people are in bad situations.

In many situations, people just say to me “Edward, I trust you – just tell me what to do next”. When they enter that level of dependence on me, I am the first to tell them please don’t just trust me! Don’t trust anyone but yourself and consider everything you are told in your own context and make your own decision (or something to that effect) is what I tell them.

If I think back to my biggest mistakes in business and life, it’s been because I haven’t stayed aware, just gone with the flow or haven’t used my own critical reasoning to evaluate situations.

Talking to the positive and the good news? The more critical we become, is the more effective we become in terms of understanding the world around us and bringing it back to marketing – we can really understand how to pick up great clients and focus our efforts accordingly.

My advice and thinking on this one? Be trusting, kind, reasonable BUT VERY CRITICAL. Always question what you are thinking and told, so you can make great educated decisions which you can stand by. Its a Jungle out there!
