Mark Douglas is a legend. His book has given me much peace today!

It’s 11:18PM as I write this blog post. It’s very muggy where I am sitting at Wynyard Train station waiting with fatigued anticipation for a train to take me back out to the Western Suburbs.

My life has been a time of excitement, challenges, winning and really learning how to master my own emotions. I have had total roller coaster days of losing a big client to then pick up two more. Basically going from massive lows to massive highs.

It’s been a roller coaster of emotion for me lately and the key lesson has been learning to toughen up and really enjoy the process I am on. One term I learned over 10 years ago that serves me well today is the importance of staying:

– “In the zone”

Some years ago I read a book by Mark Douglas titled ‘Trading in the Zone’. It was a book on the mindset of trading and it taught me many of the powerful lessons of life. It was speaking too the mindset of becoming a powerful trader and learning how to not let losses impact you and the importance of sticking to your plan.

My life in all areas has been practising that lately. That is you take a loss, but yet you must mentally stay ‘in the zone’ so you are prepared and positioned for your next win.

The big issue that I have had to deal with is the importance of dealing with losses and what you do after that. You lose a client, you stuff something up, you lose someone close to you or whatever and you feel that sense of defeat (in the moment).

How do we turn our ’emotional defeat’ around to get back on the horse and win? For me it’s been a massive lesson in this area and I have found the three key points of importance:

  1. Know wins and losses are normal and part of life.
  2. You may get multiple losses in a row and get multiple wins in a row.
  3. It’s a probability scenario. As long as you win more than you lose.

My life has been mastering this thinking and it’s not easy. Sometimes you can feel like ‘this is it’ and you are done for.

This is when you have to practice being ‘in the zone’ and it’s the time to be strong and keep going for that next win. The more times we navigate these dark emotions does the easier it comes for next time.

My advice and thinking? Check out “Trading in the Zone” by Mark Douglas. I loved it and it has really helped me think in this losses and in mindset. Critical. I never knew until now how it would set me up for life.

It’s now 11:29PM, I am near Redfern station and not too far from home. Blessed!

Love your work, thanks for the read and stay awesome!
